Oft called a game of inches, baseball is also a contest of opinion- whether it be an unpopular call by an umpire- or the fanatical belief of a fan. Edwin Donald Snider died yesterday. He was 84. A young Sailor in ‘45, perhaps you remember him best as the Duke of Flatbush- and although born in Los Angeles, his hometown in the memory of millions will forever be Brooklyn. The Duke was my boyhood hero- a slugging centerfielder larger than…

First, it’s most tempting to equate extreme Islam, for all practical purposes, with Islam as a whole. Also, I don’t use the term “moderate Muslim” in my writing, because I really don’t know what that would be. Nevertheless, I had a young Muslim acquaintance a few years back who was the very salt of the earth- and I wouldn’t want to insult her or anyone like her. For one thing, she was pretty much a Muslim in name only- like many…

I’ve always been devoted to truth and quickly correct myself whenever I discover I’m wrong- or when someone else irrefutably points out my error. Thank you, Mad Max and others! However, I openly admit that my mission as a patriot is not so much about truth as it is being a faithful Soldier in the war of public opinion. No surprise to you there, I suppose. From time to time I’ve been accused of being off my meds, delusional or a…

Agreed this may be oversimplifying the prospect of shutting down the federal government, but consider these examples. If an electrical circuit in my house demands too much juice, a circuit breaker immediately shuts it down. If a water pipe bursts, I shut off the water immediately to minimize damage and waste. If there’s a problem with my water heater or heating system, the natural gas is shut off automatically to prevent an…

The foundation of any tyrannical government rests on the fundamental but flawed premise that a group of powerful individuals may become an empowering and irrevocable law unto themselves- that they may do whatsoever they will with complete impunity, answering neither to the peasants they subjugate, nor to the God who gave them life.…

Early one sunny Sunday morning in the spring of 1967, I borrowed Alaska Jeff’s motorcycle and was cruising from the Presidio to the old Bay Ward Chapel. As I passed through Haight-Ashbury, many young people were milling around in the street- and I slowed down so not to hit anyone. They were a quiet peaceful bunch- wearing beads and odd clothing that must have come from either a thrift store or somebody’s attic. Both sexes had long…

Yes, the Zapruder film again. Last night Joseph Butman and I began trading comments on TPN about the limo driver’s “gun,” and that friendly discussion led me to once again view the film over and over. This particular version of the video runs on QuickTime (not whatever powers YouTube) and has been “stabilized.” I now see that what so many have called… Continue

If you wonder why I keep harping on past indiscretions of American politicians, I firmly believe the warning that those who remain ignorant of our true political history will likely to fall into the same pits dug for past generations. Moreover, their treasonous acts of murder and mayhem are clasped tightly together in an unbroken chain from our Revolution to present day- especially since the Federal Reserve Act of…

Here’s an eye-opening video dated 13 January 2011 about taxpayer-funded Planned Parenthood in New Jersey- a shocking exposé of fraud, waste and abuse going well beyond the boundary of hard-time crime. In this flawless undercover sting, two imposters pose as pimp and prostitute to arrange medical care for underage girls- including abortion. Underage… Continue

Well, the Gipper is still looking out for us- and he’s no longer hampered by sneaky elitists like G. H. W. Bush. Ben Johnson kindly called to my attention that Roger Vinson, the second federal judge to drop a bomb on ObamaCare, was… Continue
