This, taken from the “Declaration of the INDEPENDENTS” found throughout this site, addresses the problem you so eloquently described.

What most folks don't realize on the first reading of it is that a national sales tax (not the "value added (VAT) tax" variety, puts the power of the BOYCOTT straight into the hands of WE, the People (the TAXPAYERS). It would give us the immediate ability to protest, through the Power of the Purse! That is why it is commonly refered to as the "Fair Tax".

I understand what you are saying and I understand what is put forth in the "Declaration of the Independents".

My frustration comes from the fact that in the past two and a half years we have talked sensibly, shouted, carried signs, marched, written, called, attended town hall meetings to express our displeasure with the way these people are running OUR government and EVERYTHING WE DO FALLS ON DEAF EARS!!!!!

A MILLION people marched on Washington DC and the sock puppets reported a 'few thousand'..........for the love of Pete.....look at the flipping pictures!!!!!!

The attitude never changes....THEY are smarter than we are THEY will tell us what we will accept. NOTHING, even sending several new conservatives to DC has gotten their attention. They pat us on our heads like petulant little children and go back to 'business as usual'.

There continues to be so much ridiculous waste and duplicate & triplicate spending and they do NOTHING about it. The fact of the matter is, they do not give a CRAP about ANYTHING but their own egomaniacal power.

The Fair Tax has been proposed and SCOFFED at as unworkable!

E-Congress?:......PULEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

How very plebeian to even suggest it.

Short of marching into a session of Congress and dragging all of these horses' asses out by their hair, can YOU think of any way to make them actually LISTEN to the people for whom they work?!? [and I DO apologize for the reference as the behinds on MY horses are a lot more intelligent than anyone serving in the US Congress today!...........alot more attractive as well!]

Honestly, Raya......there MUST be something that will make them sit up and pay attention.

Does this have to begin in the states?

Do the individual states have to declare that their federal representatives will better serve the state by staying within the states for the majority of their time in office?

What we're doing now is NOT having any effect......they keep increasing our taxes, we pay them....they spend them.....it never ENDS.....they look as us as if we are the geese that lay golden eggs just for them!!

There is no accountability!

How many of these jerks simply do not PAY their taxes [Charley Rangle, Tim Geithner, Tom Daschle, etc. etc. etc.............WITH NO PENALTY!!!!! ....actually, some [Geithner] are rewarded with high level positions.....how does THAT work????? And congress gives that a flipping PASS!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I have an extremely STRONG sense of RIGHT & WRONG and have a tendency not to 'mince words' [my husband has actually told people that "She doesn't just call it a spade, she calls it a friggin' shovel"! ( I cleaned that up!)]

All of this is so incredibly frustrating that I'd really love to just SHAKE one of these people until their teeth rattle.....IF I actually thought it might help.

It is said that "Desperate Times call for Desperate Measures" but who among us is willing to risk having the IRS set their attack dogs on us to make a point? It wouldn't bother me at all to give it a go.
