Hi Leon:

In your zeal to defend your man (I respect people who defend their man), you jumped to some conclusions. Because I was not in favor with some of Ron's positions, does not mean I favor Newt, Mitt or Perry. They are the worst globalist statist RINO's left in the race.

Actually, oil is not traded only in dollars anymore, although $ are still dominant. China and other countries are trying to break the $ stranglehold. The US and Fed put huge pressure on countries to trade in $. It is also the only currency with sufficient liquidity and trading facilities to do that, with the possible exception of a distant second place Euro.  The dollar will lose dominance, which won't be good for us. It has been abused too much, for too long. Now, we are paying the price, which will get much higher.

No globalist talking points. No one owns me. No one pay s me to say anything, although it has been offered. I agree with Ron's assertion that we are far too interventionist, spend far too much on defense, are in far too many countries and have far too many bases.  However, I disagree that radical Muslims are no threat and that we cause the threat (he contradicts himself there).  Radical Muslims literally intrepret the Koran's order to convert or kill all non-believers (that's us, I think).  They have been doing that (invading, raping, pillaging, killing)  for 1400 years, a little longer than Bush has been around, even longer than the US has been around.

Look at a map of their expansion.  Listen to Iran's aggressive rhetoric.  Check the rhetoric and their proxy wars, state-sponsored terrorism, etc.  Most people didn't believe Hitler either. They laughed at the little comic opera man with a goose step and Chaplinesque moustache. When someone threatens to kill or convert me, then proceeds to demonstrate just that on others, I tend to pay attention.

Ron said Iran is not enriching uranium-- HUGE, HUGE  mistake. Even the Iranians as much as admit that they are doing it.  That might have cost him Iowa, in the context that he said it in. Just in case that wasn't enough, he doubled down, went on Jay Leno and made a fool of himself, proving to anyone actually paying attention that he isn't ready for prime time. You can get away with that crap when you're an obscure Congressman  looking for district pork, but not as a contender. He's losing the Conservative base at warp speed.  Too bad, because he has lots of good ideas and lives the Constitution more than his opponents.

I do agree with you about letting other countries take care of their problems, unless it directly hurts our legitimate interests AND we are in a position to effectively do someting about it. We have made some things worse. Case in point: Iran. First, we overreact  and depose a sitting head of state.  Then, we support an unpopular "Shah."  Then we end up as arch-enemies with the new reginme (they weren't exactly dovish). Then, we weaken their strongest natural enemy, just when they were killing each other, etc.

RE: "Intolerable"! Really. So you don't think that if he made to the white house that he would take the advice of his generals or national security advisers and make a more informed judgement on what is a threat and what isn't? And then secure our nation against those threats?>>

So far, he hasn't learned well, after 20 years in Congress and some access to briefings and experts. So, I'm a little skeptical.  I'm pretty sure that he would take decisive steps to protect our interests, IF he perceived a threat to our legitimate interests, however:

- He doesn't seem to understand that Iran is not as rational as Russia,  or even Pakistan.

- The rules have changed, with WMD, missiles, high-tech, etc. Not as easy to hide in Fortress America.

When I saw his DeMoines Register interview, I was encouraged. Howeve

Why do you think oil is traded in dollars and only in dollars?
Comment by Leon Ewers on December 21, 2011 at 7:13am
Oh and its not so much control of the oil its control of the market, money that they want.
Comment by Leon Ewers on December 21, 2011 at 6:37am
" When did I say anything about "attacking" Iran? When you dismissed Ron Paul in favor of one of the globalist. You dismissed Ron Paul by saying his blind spot on some of the threats is intolerable. That whole statement was a bought and paid for globalist media talking point."

Let me add to this a little more. When you dismissed Ron by saying his blind spot on some of the threats is intolerable that puts Sachs Romney or globalist carbon tax Newt at the top of the list which means an attack on Iran. It is the globalist that want control of Iran and Irans oil. They want control over all middle eastern oil to better control the price of oil, monopolize the oil market, tripleing energy prices which would triple food prices which would put a strangle hold on middle america.

Now some of us like me it wouldn't really effect so much since I am able to grow my own gardenand my dependence on energy is minimal, but the vast majority of amercans would be put in the poor house.

See the way I see it is this is not a fight between the 99% and 1% this is a fight between the 1% to see who gets to be top dog and they don't care who they have to kill or step on to get there, this includes the USA and everyone in the USA. They use us and our military to their advantage

No, I don't know nothing about you gmiller but I am sure that if I did know you we would be fairly good friends and would have some enteresting discussions at the very least. I could probably learn some good stuff from you.

Now how did I extrapolate you being a fan of globalist statist bankers and eternal borrowing and inflation? When you posted " his blind spot on some of the threats is intolerable."

"Intolerable"! Really. So you don't think that if he made to the white house that he would take the advice of his generals or national security advisers and make a more informed judgement on what is a threat and what isn't? And then secure our nation against those threats?

Look, you have a lot of good points in your posts but IMO some of them are slightly off (debatable of course). I still say we just need to get out of there and let that side of the world take care of them selfs and we will worry about this side. We can start with pineapple face Chavez.

Aside from being offensive and illogical, you seem to have a screw loose somewhere.

Have you read Dwight Kehoe's latest essay on Ron? Or better yet, simply listen to Ron's self-embarrassing session with Jay Leno, or a recent debate.  He is digging a deep hole for himself, at the worst possible time, weeks before the only early contest he has a good shot at.  Of course, a caucus is the best type of contest for him, because he knows how to pack such events. All he needs to do is to follow "Obama's" 2008 strategy.

The right question: is Ahmedijad paying you and Ron?

" Yes, Leon, good way to endear Ron to all of us by labeling us as "insane" if we don't vote for him."

If the shoe fits then wear it proudly. Lol.

" LOL, your ignorant patronizing would be endearing, it it wasn't so silly. I studied Einstein's most valuable work in school. I also learned that fools can apply geniuses' work improperly and still be fools."

If that's your story then stick to it.

"Iran is as dangerous to America as a mad poodle is to a Rotweiler, or you are to me. That is to say that each could cause some damage, but at its own peril."

Is that a threat! Awe, does someone need a hug?
Lol, I am kidding around of course. Take it easy buddy nothing I say is being directed at you or any one else on here or anywhere else for that matter. They are just in general statements. This is just a simple discussion board. I am not telling anyone who to vote for or not to vote for, that I leave to the voters themselfs.

If you feel that strongly about Ron Paul then great, go vote for who ever you feel is the right person.

But I still say you are a plant. Who do you work for? Which one of the globalist put you up to this? Do you work for Obama? The government? Some union? Romney, Gingrich, Bachmann? The Federal Reserve, Sachs, JP?

"Iowa Governor Branstad says, “Ignore Ron Paul Win In Iowa, It Doesn’t Count”

WOW!!! So the voters in Iowa don't count because they didn't pick the globalist run governments choice Newt the salamander or Sachs Romney, lmao.

Come on, tell us who you work for gmiller?

Continued;

"The system is private, conducted for the sole purpose of obtaining the greatest possible profits from the use of other people's money. They know in advance when to create panics to their advantage. They also know when to stop panic. Inflation and deflation work equally well for them when they control finance."

1915 J. P. Morgan became the sales agent for the, "War Materials Board," to both the British and the French engaged in World War I, and becomes the biggest consumer on the planet, spending 10 million dollars a day. Furthermore, President Woodrow Wilson appointed banker, Bernard Baruch, to head the, "War Industries Board."

According to historian, James Perloff, both Bernard Baruch and the Rockefellers profited by approximately 200 million dollars during World War I."

Now gmiller if you still believe America is in some kind of danger from Iran then yes, I would say you are insane. Besides that is an Einstein qoute.

" Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex... It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction." Albert Einstein

Leon Ewers:

Quite obviously, you know nothing about me or my views. You also seem to think that anyone who doesn't agree with everything you say has the polar opposite views. Wrong again.

When did I say anything about "attacking" Iran? How did you extrapolate that into me being a fan of globalist statist bankers and eternal borrowing and inflation?

As far as the threat of Iran?  Iran is the single most powerful radical extremist Islamic state in the world.  Their brand of Islam takes the Koran literally, especially the order to convert or kill all non-Muslims.  It is the largest sponsor of state terrorism in the world. Its President has explicitly and implicitly threatened to destroy Israel and the USA multiple times.  They have killed many Americans.  Iran routinely violates international norms.  They fight proxy wars all over the world and are expanding into the Western hemisphere now.  They are unstable and have a regime which is more unrepresentative than most countries in the world.  America has gone to war for far less and has shown remarkable restraint to date.

Do you think that sets them a little apart from "Ruussia (SIC), China, North Korea, Pakistan..."?  I do, although Pakistan and N Korea are potentially highly unstable threats.  I also think that the lack of concerted action by other nations has put us in this fix. It could have been done peacefully before. Now, it will be far more difficult, especially since "Obama" discouraged the prospects of regime opposition, while helping some other Arab Spring countries. It seems he only objects to revolutions in Islamic states. Our Presidents, up until Obama, attempted concerted multilateral action, but it was like the sound of one hand clapping. Nations like France, Germany, Russia, Pakistan and North Korea continued to sell strategic materials and technology to Iran. Russia actually seems to have an interest in stirring up trouble between Iran and the Western world. Some think that they will side with Iran in a future "Armageddon."  All this is not just the opinion of the Imperialist evil Americans, Leon.

Ron's recent debate performance extinguished any chance of him winning the Iowa primary.  To win, he needs the support of a large portion off the Republican Conservative base. He lost a chunk of it last week. To say that the Iranians are NOT enriching uranium, when even they as much as admit it and proof exists of strategic materials shipments of materials that are used ONLY for nuclear weapons is the height of stupidity.

I was more positive when I saw Ron's DeMoines Register interview, but that went out the window last week.  Without a very strong showing in Iowa, Ron Paul is finished, since that state is his best hope for success. Unless a lot of people ignore last week's performance, or are simply ignorant of it, that will occur.  Too bad, since his Constitution-adhering policies would be a big improvement over what we have now and most competing candidates.  Unfortunately, he doesn't have the guts to challenge an ineligible incumbent, either.  Maybe many will vote for him anyway, since the opposition is so weak.

I hope the general election winner is smart enough to have him run Treasury or the Fed, which is where he could do the most good. I would also like to see him as Speaker of the House, but that will not, cannot, happen now.
