NBC News affiliate WRCB in Chattanooga, Tennessee is reporting today that law enforcement is still looking for the man who allegedly fired shots two days ago at a security officer near the Watts Bar nuclear plant in Tennessee. The nuclear generating plant, operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority, is located near Spring City, Tennessee.
The alleged gunman appears to have approached the area of the plant by boat via the river and came ashore, meeting the security officer and allegedly fired two shots with a handgun. The officer reportedly called for backup and before additional officers arrived, the gunman got back in his boat and traveled down the river from the scene.
WRCB and some other local news outlets have been reporting this story today and yesterday, and the incident itself is reported as happening two days ago. Yet none of the major national news networks are covering this story. Searches via Google News are returning no news stories on this incident in any of the major news networks such as CNN, Fox News, or MSNBC. Additionally, that same search finds no stories on this incident in any of the three major broadcast news of either ABC, NBC, or CBS.
The FBI and local law enforcement are still searching for the alleged gunman. Anyone with knowledge is urged to contact the FBI or the Rhea County Sheriff's Office.
