A Place For The Lord

38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

I have written elsewhere on the One Thing that is needed. So I am not going to repeat myself again, except to say that this One Thing relates to Christ filling all things as the Preeminent One. If we see that God is working all things together according to the purpose of summing everything into Christ, we will seek after the things that are conductive to this and shun the things that are not.

 

Is love conductive to the Purpose of God and Jesus? Of course it is. So, we seek love. Is anger conductive to the purpose of God and Jesus? Of course not! So we shun it.

 

Our flesh is always battling our spirit for preeminence in our lives. Which are we going to give into? Keeping our eye on the Lord and our minds stayed upon Him will automatically shun us from the things that would cause us to turn from Him.

 

In the above scripture verses, we see Martha complaining at first because she was serving the Lord while Mary was at His feet hearing His Word. And, Jesus said, she, Mary, was doing the one thing that was NEEDFUL. And Mary had chosen that good part that would never be taken away.

 

Now this should give us cause to stop and think. Martha is busy serving and putting things together for the Lord, being His servant while Mary is just sitting at his feet, listening to Him. We will get back to that in a moment.

 

Martha continues serving but everything is OK. There isn't anymore complaining about Mary and everything seems to go along as it should. What have we learned from this?

 

It is not that service, fellowship, or preparing meals is a bad thing. It simply has to be put in the right order. It isn't that we cannot do many good works and spiritual works as well, but the work of the Lord must NEVER have preeminence over the Lord of the work. In my experience, most strife and discord between Christians is the result of becoming entangled in the "many things" and forgetting that "only one thing that is needed". Sitting at His feet, listening to His word.

 

I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

If we do as Mary then we will be filled to overflowing. The ones that do not know this are the ones that run all over the place looking for Spiritual experiences. The next move of God, or a more powerful "Anointing". They are the ones that Must be inside a church building every week, if not every service or they become depressed or "backslidden". How is this possible? How? Because they have been taught by men that church attendance, or power or an anointing, or feeling God move on them in a tangible way is a must. If not, they aren't truly saved. These are rules and laws made by men.

 

Those that know the Lord live an abundant Life because they are filled spiritually. There is my "Life, and Life more Abundantly". My Life is not what He gives me, but in who He is.

Thank you, my site takes up so much of my time with posting news that I have found that I needed to go back to my first Love of Ministering His Word. We have many G&C USA Groups founded quite a while back. But I have had to put them on the back burner. I have asked my members to please pick up on the news items so I can return to posting Lessons in Groups we started and continue our God & Country Ministies.
