This is a great illustration of how we can regain some sort of 'handle' on the Federal Government.

I also think that the centralization of our Federal Government needs to be abolished. We elect these people and they go off to DC and become part of the "ELITE", never to be seen again in their districts unless they are running for reelection.

I think this would accomplish SEVERAL things!

1) They would LIVE in their districts, as would their staff.

2)They would be easily accessable to their constituancy

   at all times except when away to vote on important issues.

3)This would PROBABLY limit access to our elected officials to the lobbiests as well as

   that of the lobbiests to the polititians they all promise to avoid when running.

4) It would do alot more to keep them 'honest' then allowing them to become

   'Swamp Denizens" in the Nation's Capitol.

The Founders NEVER intended these positions to be permanent, lifelong carreers as they have become. These people are obviously incapable of 'policing' themselves so let's just bring them home where we can keep an eye on them.

There was a time when residency was preferable because of the travel and communication issues of the time. Today, we have planes, trains and automobiles; telephones and computers, negating residency in Washington D.C. [as lovely & charming a city as it is].

Most of our elected officials really have NO flipping clue what is REALLY going on in their districts and when they DO go home for a visit they visit their wealthy neighborhoods as most of them are actually the "dreaded RICH" they refer to with such contempt.

They don't need [see? WE tell THEM!!!!!!! NOT the other way around!] a fancy mansion in DC. When they fly in for important votes [already agreed on via computer conferences] they will stay in hotels, at their OWN expence and unless they've removed that deduction from the tax code, can deduct that expence from their taxes.......meals & air fare too.

I think one month out of five, divided however they wish would work but that can be open for discussion.

OK, I've just terminated congressional flights on military aircraft [supposedly 'repaid' by all to partake...........NOT!!!!!!!] AND I've closed the congressional dining room too! [$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$]

Also ANY of these people caught cheating on ot simply not paying [Rangle, Geithner, Frank etc] their taxes, will be arrested and marched out of the Capitol in handcuffs.

I'm sick of being accused of cheating by those who are experts at it! I really think this is the only way to "Drain the Swamp" to quote former Speaker Pelosi. Her way obviously just further polluted it!

Shouldn't there be some sort of tax on THAT!?!?!?

 

Did all of you know that the ONLY city in the country that has KEPT home values is Washungton D.C.?????? How is THAT possible?????????
