The Obama Assault on Corporate Pay -- It Has Begun -- THE REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH IN THIS COUNTRY

It has begun. We first learned of the assault on corporate pay when the banks taking TARP would have their pay packages looked at rigorously and "approved" by the Pay Czar or perhaps by "The One" himself. That assault has been broadened to include ALL banks recently.

And now we learn on Fox News that there are some CORPORATIONS which have "voluntarily" said they would take a look at the issue of pay and make some changes. These corporations want to "get ahead" of the curve on the issue so they will not be bullied and harrassed...

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?

Are we a free market system, or has that gone under the Obama bus? This is an OUTRAGE and should be so to each and every one of us, whether youngsters starting out in their corporate life, or people in our sunset years such as I am who worked and scratched like hell to get somewhere in this country and garnered some success. You can bet that the Pay Czar might well have said to me, "Oh, you make north of $90,000 as an Administrative Assistant? And you don't have a college education? That's WAY too much...you should be paid $45,000!" This despite the pressure, despite the very, very long hours (not covered under overtime which in so many companies is a thing of the past), and despite the sacrifices made by so many like me, some to the detriment of our families as we were not always available to our children and/or our husband or significant other.

Where does this stop? Do we say to the local delivery man, "Oh, you make only minimum wage? You should be making $20 per hour!"

Do we say to the doctors (specialists as well as general practitioners), "Oh, you make too much at $1.0 million a year. We must lower your salary to $400,000 per year" (and this DESPITE paying up to $200,000 per YEAR for malpractice insurance, hefty office expenses, etc.). If we say this to doctors, we'll HAVE NO DOCTORS.

This is the BEGINNING OF THE REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH which Joe the Plumber was apprised of by "The One" himself while on the campaign trail.

And on and on it goes...

Hey, Oregon Country Girl...thanks for the post! Sharia Law does have a foothold in this country, in Texas of all places for sure that I know of, and likely in some other places.... Where the heck are our country's laws? Being pushed out by Sharia Law? It's SHAMEFUL.

Poor people don't create jobs or hire new people. It's obvious they're trying to de-industrialize America. I heard that the "green jobs" will be going overseas to China and India. So, unemployment will continue to rise.

Speaking of athletes...I heard under "Sharia Law" athletics are not allowed, nor is riding horses, and many other laws if you're an "infidel". One of "O's" czars, Koch, is a transnationalist, and apparently thinks we should bring "Sharia Law" into some parts of the United States.

LOL, Darlene! By choosing whether or not to go to a particular movie, we can impact the pay of some of the clowns in Hollywood or Bollywood, whatever name one might wish to use, should we wish to personally boycott a particular actor or actress. The pay scale is dwindling somewhat due to the economy and the dearth of good movies. When looking at the ads for new movies on television, I generally turn to my hubby and say, "They made THAT dreck? What morons will go see it???"

You almost have to hope that they will limit how much money those in Hollywood can make - just kidding, of course.

Hey, Wayne. Actually, the Senators and members of the House do not get paid all that much from a salary standpoint...although the perks can be quite costly indeed. We could certainly demand a cut-back on so-called "junkets" to foreign lands and other junkets which are nothing more than paid vacations for the members, their families, and their staff...that would be a good start.

My beef, however, is really with the assault on corporations. As far as I'm concerned, if you can make $1.5 million, all to the better. Why the all-out assault on executive pay? What about ATHLETES?? And once we go there, where in the world will it stop?
