You know, Phil, the sad part is they will outnumber us very soon. We definitely have a Muslim in office. and his bowing to the king of Saudi was a major mistake on his part. Saudi paid for his Harvard education; and all of what is happening is being funded by the Saudis. I do believe that includes the hordes that are now invading the other Muzzie countries right now. And if Saudi isn't careful, those other Muzzies will be after them as well. They have no brains as to who helps them. Once blood-lust is stirred, it knows no bounds.
DARN YOU ANNETTE!!!!
You should have warned me. I ended spewing my coffee all over my laptop this morning reading your post. You should be a comic writer. I laughed my head off at some of the descriptive scenes.
I especially love that part about "The Dukes of Hazard". That was the second cup of coffee I lost!
But seriously, your description of a westerners life among the Saudis should be an eye opener for any of us.
If the muslim numbers in the USA continue to rise as they have the last 20 years, We the People may be facing a situation much like you have described.
Thanks Annette.
Phil, I can tell you funny stuff and some really serious stuff as well. Before ever entering the country, we were required to read a book entitled The Arab Mind. Going in we were not allowed to take anything made by or purchased as Sears Roebuck. We were not allowed to take in a Bible. We were not allowed a Christmas tree. We got there about 2 wks before Christmas. We were allowed 600 lbs of freight. Our housing was completely furnished from the furniture to all the things needed in the kitchen right down to silverware.
What I did was cover a Bible with contact paper, and I put in 4 hymnals in our shipment. I sew, and I owned a sewing machine made by Sears Roebuck. I wheeled it into the country in plain sight. They have no idea what they are looking at. If the name Sears or Levi is not on it, they let it pass.
We could not take our 2 oldest daughters because they do not provide school for girls past 9th grade. So all the Saudi girls over there do not get education past 9th grade. Those that have money and can send their girls out to boarding schools do so. I had 3 girls and my son who went to Saudi. They used to allow the Saudis who could afford it to send their girls out to boarding schools after 9th grade, but when the women came back educated, they put the cabash on that! Heaven forbid a woman should know something!
When our things arrived, they had rifled through it, but what I had taken was still in the box. They are not overly bright (understatement)! I took the big box and cut it into the form of a Christmas tree, then taped it together so it would stand up, and we decorated it with what we made. The second big box I made a large doll house out of so that my two little ones could play in it. They loved it.
Their laws are VERY strict. If you went outside as a woman, you had to be covered from head to toe - no exceptions. If you wore pants, you top had to cover the crotch area. Your sleeves had to go past your elbow. My 9th grade daughter was playing baseball and running track in sweats pants and long sleeved top!
My ex is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and he was there to inspect the desalination plant they were putting in at Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. We were there for 6 mos., but had been contracted for an 18 mo. assignment, 6 of which he had already put in before we were okayed to join him.
They issue what is called an "igama", which is a work permit of sorts that is stamped daily when he would go into work. Well, about 6 mo. into our stay, I accidentally washed it, and it washed out all the stamps that were in it. Every single day for the next 3 weeks (until they sent us home), we received a letter from the Saudi govt. threatening us with any one or all three of the following: fine, deportation or jail. We were deported! (Thank God)
My son who was 9 at the time, was chased by Arabs. They "love" little boys. He found 3 Filipino boys to make friends with, and they were inseparable. There was safety in numbers. As for the girls, they were told to NEVER be caught on the bus alone. Unfortunately my oldest had that happen to her quite by accident. She was coming home from school and we lived in camp 5. All the rest of the girls were in camp 4. When they got off the bus, it left my daughter on the bus with just the bus driver and one Arab, and she had completely spaced the fact that she was the only girl on board. The bus driver drove around to the back of the Muslim appt. complex, stopped the bus and ran. The Arab got up and started toward the back with one intent in mind (after all, she had asked for it - that IS how they think). The bus driver had opened both the back and front doors with his departure, an my daughter was a powerful gymnast. She grabbed the railings, brought her feet to her chest and kicked the Arab all they way back to the front of the bus, and she then ran up front and stomped the crap out of him, then ran the rest of the way home.
What I witnessed at the pools made me want to cry. I refused to life guard at the Camp 4 pools. Camp 5 was fine because there were next to no Arabs in camp 5, but they would come into the pool at Camp 4 and the girls had zero regard for anything and American had to say. These idiots could not swim, but they would enter the water wearing their abays (all their black dresses), and they would hold onto the edge of the pool and go around it, including the deep end. They would walk out onto the diving board and bounce - fully dressed. They wore their 'American jeans' under their abays. If one of those girls had fallen into the water and drowned, I wouldn't be here today. There would have been now way to rescue someone with all that material wrapped around them, and I am not that big or that strong. You don't jeopardize your life to try and save someone whom you cannot save safely. I can't drag a 180 lb man to safety, nor can I wade through a mountain of material to save one of these idiots. They liked to taunt the lifeguard, too. There is a serious disdain for we westerners that is very apparent when you're over there. They hate us, but they need us because we have the technology they don't have, and don't know how to have it!
The mothers are what made me the sickest. If they had a little daughter and she cried, they would hit her to try and make her stop crying. They were downright cruel to the little girls. They would also ignore the baby. I saw more girl babies with bruises over there as a result of how they treat little girls. It was just awful.
However, if it was a boy baby, he could do anything he wanted to do. Let him make the first peep, and she was right there to appease him in any way possible.
It is an exceedingly sick society. Their favorite movie over there was The Chain Saw Massacre.
What they did not have over there are some of the following: No bowling, no movie theaters, no game areas, kids had absolutely nothing there to do; (we had to rent movies from a library the Americans set up and it consisted of reruns or movies people donated who had gone back to the states and brought back with them, or had recorded stateside and brought in. No TV channels, unless you knew how to speak Farsi. News??? ha ha ha. If you got a newspaper, and they did provide them, however before you got it any pictures or articles they didn't want you to see were cut out before you got the paper. So you might be reading a story, and part way through there had been a picture of a movie star in a formal gown which showed her shoulders. It would have been cut out, and nuts to what the article on the back of the page was - that was just too darned bad. There were no parks, no bowling alleys, women were not allowed to drive. If I got into a car with a male friend of my husband's to run to the store for something and the 'religious police' stopped us, and my husband was not with us, they would have beheaded both of us. Because we would have already committed adultery. That is the ONLY thing a man and a woman alone can do.
While over there, my two youngest were roped off at the 'suk' (market place) and made to watch a beheading! They had gone in with friends and their parents to town, and I wasn't feeling well. I can't even begin to describe the condition they were in when they got home!!! To this day, they won't talk about it, and they are both now in their early 40's.
If a person is jailed over there, they get one meal a day if they're lucky. Otherwise it is up to the family to provide food for them on a daily basis. In the town of Yanbu, we did not have to wear the abaya, but if we were to go to another town, we had to know what the religious police of that town required first before going there or the husband would be arrested. I would be flogged at a minimum.
One Brit had gone running in shorts and tank top. He was pelted with debris from rocks to garbage on his run. He couldn't get home fast enough! Another thing: EVERYTHING is according to the "will of allah". I will no longer capitalize that name. At any rate, a Brit arrived for assignment from England and on his way to the base, an oncoming car wanting to pass a slower vehicle pulled into the oncoming lane and started flashing their lights at the taxi he was in. The taxi driver threw his hands up in the air and started praying to allah. The Brit reached over the back seat and pulled the steering wheel to a hard right and they went off into the desert and avoided being hit by the oncoming car. When the taxi driver realized he had not been hit and was not going to meet allah that day, he turned the taxi around and took the Brit back into town and had him arrested for interfering with the will of allah!
There are no churches of any kind in Saudi. Only mosques. No other religion is allowed to be there or exist. While there, somebody in government decided he didn't like 'yellow' cars, so he wrote out a law banning all yellow vehicles from the country. Two things are deeply wrong here, but they point out the stupidity of these people. 1. He either forgot, or neglected to consider that all the emergency vehicles in Saudi are yellow, and 2. It is unlawful to repaint your vehicle!
When we would go into town as a family, I would walk in front of the kids, and my husband would walk behind them and glare at the Saudis; but even that did not keep them from reaching out and stroking my son's head as we walked by! My son would just cringe, and I would hear him say, "Yuk".
They received radio active "pigs", where are sticks that measure things and are necessary for certain things they were building over there. Well radio active anything has a 'shelf life', and every I think it's 10 days (I seriously forget) and it would lose half its curies. The people in receiving could not figure out why when it reached Saudi it had already lost 50% of the curies it had started out with, and they would hold up the shipment until they could figure this out. How anything got done over there is a miracle in my books.
Aramco was building a road and had constructed a partial off ramp that was maybe 30 feet in the air and the remaining portion of road was not yet built. So there was a drop off of about 30 feet if you went up the ramp. A camel herder moved his camels into the area, and Aramco fenced off the area with about 15' high fencing so the camels wouldn't get onto the roadway and walk up this ramp and fall off! (Oh allah forbid!!!!! lmao). And all construction was halted until such time as the camel herder decided to move his camels to some other area. Well, a Saudi engineer (that's a joke in itself), but this Saudi engineer had been watching Dukes of Hazard reruns he had gotten from the lending library, and he thought he could easily jump the fence with his car. So one day he decides to drive his car full speed off the edge of this ramp! At the time we were there in 1984, the car was still hanging from the cyclone fence Aramco had put up. What happened to the driver - who knows??
I hope I never ever have to hear or watch Airplane ever again. My kids had the movie script memorized by the time we left! There was one other one, but I can't recall the name off hand. We had such a great selection of things to watch - haha haha.
There is absolutely NO alcohol allowed over there; however, many of the people who work there come back as alcoholics. They make their own. They buy grape juice and pour it into 'gerry cans', then ferment it with yeast. Or they construct their own stills in their homes and make alcohol from sugar. I can still construct a still if I wanted to! My ex came back from Saudi a serious alcoholic because he would run it through the still twice until it would burn blue on a spoon! But don't get caught!!! That would have been an immediate 'off with your head' moment.
Well, maybe that has opened your eyes some to what they are really like. They are wimps when they are not in large numbers; but get them in a majority or close, and they are downright lethal and seriously hateful.
Annette, if you lived amongst them I'll believe anything you tell us.
There is nothing you can tell me about what Arabs do that I don't know already - first hand. I lived in Saudi for 6 mos. too long, and I can testify with my hand on the Bible that Muslims are by far the sickest, most depraved and horrible people on this planet!
Supposedly, 0vomit has authorized airstrikes against Irean -We'll see: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/aug/7/obama-authorizes-air...
The liberal progressive democrat machine has Obama shutting down our military when Israel needs our help.
If Israel loses to the muslims there will be a mid east slaughter the likes of which the history books have not reported since the Roman's invaded Jerusalem.
