I just want to say, statistics are not on your side, even if you had had a gun. You said that you were a martial arts student, I mean person, experience in taekwondo, and yet because this individual was so large and was able to overcome you even with your skills, and chances are that if you had had a gun, then he would have been able to get that from you and possibly use it against you …

Then Hudak goes on to quote a statistic, which was “for every one woman who used a handgun to kill someone in self defense, 83 were murdered by them”.

I sure would like to see that data. For one thing, the underlying assertion is that the 83 women would not have been killed had their attacker not had a handgun. I think that is ridiculous. I also have to wonder how many attacks have been thwarted without the attacker being killed.

And of course the lady is a Democrat. To the Democrats on this board, I ask you to talk to your party leadership. It seems that the majority of your party representatives are wrong when it comes to gun control. Don’t just depend upon everyone else to fight that battle. If you disagree, say something to your elected officals. Let them know they aren’t representing you.

What If Republican Todd Akin Advocated Rape Whistles?

Gun Control: The silent media ignore a Colorado Democrat who says women don't need firearms to defend themselves from predators and a patronizing vice president who says women can't handle an AR-15 anyway.

On Monday, the Colorado House passed four gun control bills. Among them is HB13-1226. It would ban concealed weapons on college campuses, as if creating more gun-free zones, such as the one around the Aurora, Colo., theater, where 12 were killed and another 59 wounded, will prevent more massacres.

Colorado is a concealed-carry state, as was Virginia at the time of the Virginia Tech shootings. But like the Aurora theater, Virginia Tech had declared itself a gun-free zone. It's a lesson the Colorado House apparently didn't learn.

John Fund, writing in National Review, notes that the Aurora shooter had a choice, within a 20-minute drive from his home, of seven movie theaters that were showing the Batman movie with which he was obsessed.

The Cinemark Theater he chose wasn't the closest, but was the only one that banned customers from carrying their guns inside, allowed under Colorado law.

Supporting HB13-1226 was Colorado Democrat Rep. Joe Salazar. While arguing for the disarmament of college students, Salazar said that even if women feel like they're going to be raped, that's no justification for carrying a Glock in your purse or book bag.

"It's why we have call boxes; it's why we have safe zones; it's why we have the whistles," Salazar opined.

"Because you just don't know who you're gonna be shooting at. And you don't know if you feel like you're gonna be raped, or if you feel like someone's been following you around or if you feel like you're in trouble when you may actually not be, that you pop out that gun and you pop ... pop a round at somebody."

Salazar's patronizing and demeaning comment that women, now considered combat-ready, cannot responsibly handle firearms for their own self-protection has been greeted by cricket chirps from a mainstream media that savaged into political oblivion Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin of Missouri after he bungled a question about rape and abortion.

Disagreeing with Salazar's assessment is Amanda Collins, a woman who was raped in 2007 at the University of Nevada. She was raped at gunpoint, in a gun-free zone, less than 300 feet away from campus authorities. The assailant went on to assault two other women and kill a third.

Comment by Teresa Smith on February 22, 2013 at 9:59pm: In Jacksonville Fl. there is a woman who did a warning shot to her abusive boyfriend and she is facing twenty years. She should have killed him. it would have been self defense. It is illegal to fire a warning shot. Joe was chosen by "Dear Leader" so he would look good, and make old white men look dumb.....Joe is doing a good job.

I'm going to Washington DC and begin targeting those politicians who are advocating the killing of innocent civilians because they fit the profile of Janet Napolitano's image of "terrorists".
