Momma taught me “Life’s a game of give and take-

Especially when your heart’s about to break.

  Then it’s time to give a little more-

Even if you’re flat out on the floor.

Sometimes you must give a little more-

Swim harder toward that peaceful golden shore.”

 

She told me the game is seldom fair,

But that doesn’t mean the Rules of Life have changed.

“When you’ve had all that you can take,

There’s more than just your happiness at stake.

“That fella you might really love to hate

Might have a lot of trouble on his plate-

And even Jesus wasn’t treated well-

So why should you escape the wrath of hell.
