First up, I find it so ironic that after twice beating back the British in the cause of our liberty, we now have what appears to be a Kenyan Brit for a President- as determined by the citizenship of his father. Actually, there’s no shadow of a doubt that Barry is a natural-born Brit. He is NOT a natural-born American.
And in case you missed it, please take a moment to click here and read an anonymous tribute to our men and women in uniform posted today by our own Uncle Sam. Brought tears to my eyes. If you can read this without the same result, you’re either much stronger than I am, or so jaded by the troubled world we live in- that nothing can pierce your callous soul.
With only a few more days before what may well be our most important election since George Washington was first elected President in 1788, please reflect a moment upon this hallowed patriot who has dwarfed every man that followed him into that sacred office.
I can’t help wondering if every patriotic American alive today perhaps had the profound pre-mortal privilege of looking down from the windows of Heaven as George knelt humbly in the snow at Valley Forge- or on 15 March 1783 as he stood before the rebellious officers of our military and softy declared that his eyes had grown dim in the service of his country.
Where do we find such a statesman today? A patriot like Washington, who even refused his Presidential pay- or who so routinely placed the needs of country before his own, that surely we shall never see one greater until Christ himself returns to rule and reign? Even Abe Lincoln runs a distant second in this glorious marathon we call America.
But maybe- just maybe- Almighty God has prepared such a powerful leader to deliver us from the terrible pit in which we’re presently and so pathetically mired. Oh, there are the many naysayers who speak otherwise- those forlorn citizens whose hope for a rebirth of the American dream has long since evaporated. And there are also those who see us so hopelessly sinking into this seemingly bottomless abyss- that there seems no reasonable alternative than to pray for Jesus’ immediate return. I well understand their pessimism.
Nevertheless, I feel impressed to promise you that the Spirit of God shall indeed rest upon every patriotic American who diligently asks for deliverance- and that a quiet assurance shall come to each of you who still have faith in America- and a stalwart faith in the same Divine Hands that pulled a ragtag Colonial army through the darkest days of our first rebellion.
Would ye now stand before George Washington and complain that our fight for liberty is too perilous- or the path to victory too steep? Would ye confront the ghosts of Bunker Hill and Gettysburg and Guadalcanal- and declare that all is lost? I think not.
My dear friends, and I call you my friends because I believe you are- this is a moment in American history wherein we must rally ourselves to battle as in any of the bloodiest fights our nation has ever endured. In these final days before the election, every vote we can muster to our cause will be significant.
I cling to no illusion that the coming elections will mark an end to domestic hostility or foreign wars. They will only be important milestones along the treacherous path before us. Much like that blood-stained frozen trail from Washington’s Crossing to Trenton, they represent but one harrowing piece of a larger puzzle. Nevertheless, if we lose on 2 November- we lose it all.
In every state where there is presently early voting, get out the vote now! To all of you who yet possess absentee ballots, have your ballots hand-delivered if at all possible. Seek out the aged and infirm among us who need help getting to the polls- and make arrangements for them to get there! Let every patriot who has ever felt the need to raise a hue and cry in defense of liberty do so now! Most of all, please understand that more than any other time in our history, every vote for the right counts! Every stroke disarms a foeman!
I don’t mean to seem holier than thou. I don’t mean to scream at you from my ivory tower. It’s just that I get it. It’s just that like so many other millions of Americans, I fully realize what’s at stake.
Finally, I cannot tell from what enchanted lamp our next George Washington will materialize. Nor can I tell you when we shall recognize the prophetic voice of another Ronald Reagan. I can tell you, however, that no amount of rubbing your empty stomachs or bewailing the horrible state of our national affairs will bring an end to the misery that currently afflicts so many American families. And I can tell you that only tireless petitioning of Almighty God with no less fervor than the ancient Hebrews cried for a Moses will suffice to deliver us from our present bondage. And I can promise you that we can indeed rescue our liberty, if we are committed just as the valiant members of our military are committed- whenever they venture into harm’s way to rescue one of their own.
