We live at a time when the federal government is becoming increasingly oppressive. Just consider the following excerpt from a recent article by John W. Whitehead…

It’s not just the Cliven Bundys of the world who are being dealt with in this manner. Don Miller, a 91-year-old antiques collector, recently had his Indiana home raided by the FBI, ostensibly because it might be in the nation’s best interest if the rare and valuable antiques and artifacts Miller had collected over the course of 80 years were cared for by the government. Such tactics carried out by anyone other than the government would be considered grand larceny, and yet the government gets a free pass.

In the same way, the government insists it can carry out all manner of surveillance on us—listen in on our phone calls, read our emails and text messages, track our movements, photograph our license plates, even enter our biometric information into DNA databases—but those who dare to return the favor, even a little, by filming potential police misconduct, get roughed up by the police, arrested, charged with violating various and sundry crimes.

This was not what our founders intended.

Our liberties and freedoms are being eroded a little bit more with each passing day, and most Americans don’t even seem to care.

In the end, we will pay a great price for our apathy.

Comment by Mary C Schneider on April 23, 2014 at 4:59pm: The problem isn't apathy, it's a complete takeover of the truth by the media, whether it's TV news, film, pop music, any books being published you name a source for education of the public, and you find the syndicate that will lie cheat and steal the truth from emerging. But, there is one last bastion of truth available and that's the internet. If you want to fight from your armchair because you really are afraid of people hauling out their hunting rifles and turning them on their neighbors, then attack every negative, snot ass remark made by the trolls, shills and paid for disinformation freaks that the government. has employed. RIDICULE EVERY REMARK MADE IN ANY NEWS SITE THAT IS A NEGATIVE BLAST AGAINST THE RESTORATION OF THE BASIC DOCUMENTS THAT INSURE OUR RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS AS WRITTEN BY OUR FOUNDERS.

I am terrified of guns...but I'm a lot more scared of the thought of this nation being reduced to rubble. The intellectual truths that form the basis for this nation was in fact, the True Revolution. Ridicule anyone who calls you stupid, weak, or grossly uninformed when you blog. Just slam it right back in their faces...anywhere you can.

Comment by Richard Harper on April 23, 2014 at 3:29pm: This evil man can be gotten rid of so easily that it is absolutely maddening that I have not been able to find anyone (mainly an attorney) to protect me from the IRS until I can get enough membership to make it happen (probably three to six months). My site would emulate the actions of an extremely successful site named NumbersUSA.com, which has been extremely successful in its cause (bringing immigration laws back to what they were before Johnson took office). In spring of '08, with only 350,000 members at the time, they stopped Bush from getting a very bad immigration bill passed by shutting down the fax and phone lines of Congress for three days. Congress got the message. My site would provide the same free faxing for all members ($2 membership fee) to force an investigation into "natural born" by the House, overcoming the silence and complicity of the press to allow "the evil one' to not only run for office but to get to the point of destroying our country forever !!! After that, then a case of "quo Warranto" could be brought against him in the DC District Court (the only place to do so, and have him removed from office as a usurper and put in jail. No fuss and muss of an impeachment, just gone like he had never been there. All that is required is to put enough faxing pressure only every Congressman by his constituents to make them pay attention to the truth they have all known for six years .... Obama is not "natural born", therefore never legally President.

There are five Supreme Court cases, the first in 1814 and the last in 1939 which individually and collectively agree on the definition of "natural born", so there is absolutely no doubt as to its efficacy as well as its definition. The real mystery is why the Supreme Court has not heard EVEN ONE SINGLE CASE ON THE SUBJECT IN SIX YEARS (OBAMA VISITED EACH JUSTICE 5 DAYS BEFORE BEING SWORN INTO OFFICE IN 2009, WHEN THEY WERE ALREADY FIVE CASES ON THE ISSUE BEFORE THE COURT - HIGHLY SUSPECT, IF NOT ILLEGAL - SUGGESTING THERE IS SOME STRANGE REASON WHY THE COURT WILL TAKE NONE OF THESE CASES WHEN THERE IS OS MUCH CONCLUSIVE AND AGREEING OPINIONS ALREADY SET AS PRECEDENCE FROM THE COURT !!!!

WAKE UP AMERICA IS GET RID OF THIS USURPER !!! THE BEST PART OF THIS ACTION WOULD BE THAT EVERY LAW HE SIGNED AND EVERY APPOINTMENT HE MADE WHILE IN OFFCIE WOULD BE NULL AND VOID. DO YOU KNOW HOW GREAT THAT WOULD BE FOR THIS COUNTRY. ALL OF IT GONE IN "ONE FELL SWOOP" !!!
