First, a great war story. I was waiting in line at the post office to mail my utility bills Tuesday afternoon, being too cheap to buy stamps ahead of time, when I had a delightful conversation with TSGT Richard Grimes- longtime resident of Ocean City, New Jersey. Born in 1918, my friend Richard served in the 20th Air Force during WWII. One hot Burmese day in the fall of 1944, about the time I was born, TSGT Grimes happened to be overseeing Chinese laborers as they unloaded cargo from one of our aircraft. A Chinese laborer, having never seen a black man before, was staring at Richard- and nearly fell off the loading ramp. I remarked to Richard that he most assuredly made a bigger impression on the Chinese than Obama ever did. One more relevant fact about TSGT Grimes you might appreciate. Richard was a respected friend of
Brigadier General Paul Warfield Tibbets- famed pilot of the Enola Gay…

Joseph Farah, WND on 1 June: “I can think of many reasons to impeach Barack Obama. Of course, this House of Representatives is never going to do that between now and January, when many of the members will be leaving office, most of them against their wishes. But it’s actually time to start calling for impeachment. There are dozens of crimes and misdemeanors to consider, with the dozens of brazen extra-constitutional actions of this White House – from health care to auto-company takeovers to bank bailouts. And, of course, there is the ever-present controversy over his total failure even to prove his constitutional eligibility for office. But Obama’s stonewalling over the allegations of Rep. Joe Sestak, D-Pa., is the most Nixonian reason of all…”
Yeah, I really do think TSGT Grimes could do a better job than President Obama. Even though Richard is nearing the century mark, he still seems pretty sharp to me. Maybe we could put Richard in the White House- and toss Barry back into WWII Burma- with some kind of new-fangled time warp…
Let me write just a few more lines about TSGT Richard Grimes. You need not know him well to discern his fine character- because his sterling qualities are forever engraved on his face. He wore his WWII Burma cap with pride. His love for America was part of him- part of his eyes- inherent in his voice- in everything about him. If Richard asked me to march into Hell with him, I would simply ask, “What time do we leave?”
And you know, my friends, we have the same caliber of men and women in our Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard today. If you doubt that simple truth, visit the campus of the United States Military Academy any day of the week. Or talk to our patriots presently serving selflessly in Iraq and Afghanistan- fighting far from home and family in hope of retaining a slice of freedom for their children- and for your children. Late on any hot muggy Hawaiian afternoon, go out on the flight line at Wheeler Army Airfield and talk to Black Sheep aircraft mechanics still on the job until their day’s work on their choppers is finally done- and done right. Talk to veterans of the current conflicts- who have had their precious bodies mangled by the horror of war- yet against all odds fight to rehabilitate themselves with replacement body parts- and beg to go back to combat duty with their buddies…
When I really get discouraged, I remind myself that the face of America is neither Barack Obama, nor a kisser carved on Mount Rushmore. The true face and character of America is the complete composite of all those who serve in our armed services- not the fools presently polluting the halls of Congress. Somewhere standing tall between Heaven and Hell is a young American wondering if you really appreciate the sacrifices of our military. Do you?
