If You Think You Might Not Be Next, Please Think Again!

Sometimes a most unpleasant personal experience occurs, but you make a concerted effort to put that incident behind you and not cause any commotion. It’s not that you’re afraid to speak up, but you simply don’t wish to inflict unnecessary harm or embarrassment on others. Nevertheless, after losing considerable sleep the last couple nights, I must finally tell my story- so I can let it peacefully slip from my consciousness with the outgoing tide.

First, let me recall to your memory an unfortunate infringement upon free speech in Palmer, Alaska- when a fellow was assaulted by police for openly expressing his political views in regard to impeachment of Barry Obama. If you haven’t seen this disturbing video, please take the time to watch it now.

On Monday afternoon, 20 September, I brought my elderly mother to our beautiful beach at Plymouth Place in Ocean City, New Jersey. Despite her advancing dementia, the old WWII Army nurse always seems to momentarily snap out of her apparently inevitable decline when I bring her near the ocean.

The delightful late summer weather, however, belied grave danger lurking only a few yards from shore. Though Hurricane Igor was passing far out to sea, it had caused violent surf conditions- with huge waves breaking even a mile offshore. Along our beach, dangerous riptides and powerful cross currents presented extremely hazardous conditions for visiting bathers- especially those with small children. Moreover, the largest waves hitting the shore had an irregular rhythm- and could easily surprise unsuspecting parents who thought their children were safe in a few inches of water.

Our beach is bounded by a long rocky jetty on the left and an outfall pipe exposed by beach erosion on the right. Violent storms invariably cause strong riptides along the jetty- and wicked crosscurrents toward the outfall pipe. As a seasoned boogie boarder, I have used the jetty’s riptide countless times to easily gain access to deepwater- zooming along only a few feet from the huge rocks.

Our Ocean City lifeguards had kept folks out of the ocean on Sunday, but that was the last day of their summer season. Our beach was now unprotected, and bathers entered the surf at their own risk. The situation made me most uncomfortable, and being familiar with the inherent dangers of our beach, I began verbally warning folks, especially those bringing little children into the water. The signs along our beach read, “Dial 9-1-1 for all emergencies,” but that method is a bit lethargic for a small child who is about to drown. At this particular time, there was no police presence along our beach whatsoever. The parents I warned were grateful, and the public service seemed worthwhile.

I did see a small boy ripped away from his father by the crosscurrent. I sprang from my seat as the child headed toward the big pipe, but happily the fellow was able to safely snatch his son from the water without my help.

There was, however, one rather fat fly in the ointment. A morbidly obese man ventured into the riptide area near the jetty- and had he lost his balance in the swift crosscurrent, it would have required two or three strong men to rescue him. He was much too far away for my voice, so I used a little whistle and a wave to get his attention. He ignored my warning, so I warned him a second time. He finally left the water, and I thought that was the end of it.

A few minutes later while I was sitting with my mother and friends, the irate bather appeared with a young unarmed policeman. The issue in question was the fat man’s right to bathe at his own risk. My position was that police should be keeping folks out of the water today. A somewhat heated discussion ensued, but they finally left me alone. I wisely elected to cease warning people.

Soon afterward, however, the same officer returned with an armed officer who asked coldly, “Would you tell me what you’ve been doing here?” I felt like saying that I had the right to remain silent, but declared that I had been exercising my right to free speech by warning folks about the dangerous surf.

Actually, I hadn’t noticed the fellow was armed, and when he called my attention to his weapon, I was a bit alarmed. The police officer was standing so incredibly close to me that had I carelessly raised my left arm, I may have inadvertently touched him or even his handgun. I immediately ended the discussion by softly saying, “Shake my hand.” He tersely declined with a “No.”

It was obvious at this point that the young fellow was looking for the slightest provocation to wrestle me to the ground and charge me with “Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer,” so I kept my big mouth shut- freedom of speech notwithstanding. I could have easily ended up like that poor fellow in Alaska.

There is something evil and pervasive happening in America that is reminiscent of Nazi Germany. I just never thought it would touch me so close to home. Well, I’ve told you my story- and perhaps I’ll sleep better tonight. If nothing else, I’ve publicized the Gestapo brutality in Palmer a second time- and if you think you might not be next, please think again.

WOW, what a powerful article! Just another reason the NWO has got to be stopped by WTP! The commies in control pretty well know this is their last chance at taking our liberties away from us with all our freedoms gone! They are fighting tooth and nail, and we must as well. I always say, fight fire with fire. If they want to name call, then we must throw it back in their face... Right now they are using race to divide this country and destroying the religious principals that this country was founded on. Americans have got to continue to wake up and decide, be FREE or NOT!
