NEVER TOLERATE TYRANNY!....Conservative voices from the GRASSROOTS.

Good morning, America.
Historians may argue what might have been Hitler’s greatest mistake, but for me it was invading Russia in June of 1941- a decision that would handicap Nazi military manpower and the effectiveness of critical supply lines for the rest of the war.
From the History Channel regarding the Siege of Leningrad:
“In early 1944, Soviet forces approached, forcing German forces to retreat southward from the city on January 27. The siege was over. A giant Soviet offensive to sweep the USSR clean of its invaders began in May. The 872-day siege of Leningrad cost an estimated one million Soviet lives, perhaps hundreds of thousands more. The Soviet government awarded the Order of Lenin to the people of Leningrad in 1945, paying tribute to their endurance during the grueling siege. The city did not regain its prewar population of three million until the 1960s.”
Which brings me to present-day Saint Petersburg.
Though not called Leningrad since 1991, Saint Petersburg still has more than fifty statues of Lenin scattered around the city. I get it. Lenin is an important part of Russian history.
My favorite monument in Saint Petersburg, though I have never had the pleasure of visiting that historic metropolis, honors “The Heroic Defenders of Leningrad” who probably saved thousands of our Soldiers by draining Nazi resources. The photo of that lovely monument is attached.
Back to Lenin. Where else might we find a statue honoring him? The Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, Washington- the other photo attached. Pretty hard to topple that one. It weighs more than seven tons. Nevertheless, the Russians managed to pull it down in 1989 before it was shipped to Seattle in 1993.
From Hallie Golden on August 27, 2019:
“This is Seattle’s 16-foot-tall bronze statue of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, the notorious Russian revolutionary known for leading the Soviet Union and subsequently causing the deaths and oppression of tens of millions of people in the early 20th century. Unlike many statues that depict Lenin as a scholar or with outstretched hands, this work casts him in an aggressive, battle-ready posture.”
Though Vladimir’s hands are “periodically painted red,” as shown in the photo and reported by Hallie Golden, I guess the Lenin statue has found an appropriate resting place…
