We burn corn, a food source as ethanol in the gas, which help make gas mileage even worse. We need to tell our Congress critter to stop this! With the foods etc the food will be scare and very expensive, stock up on staples and what you can... Water will be next...

Comment by Annette Akerman on May 7, 2011 at 8:17pm: I know a lot of people think the 'flat tax' is a great idea, but when you think about it there are several problems that immediately arise in my mind. 1. Will they then completely stop IRS yearly tax filings? I doubt it even though you might have paid your flat tax all through the year. Why? Because you may have purchased a house. How will they handle a flat tax on that. Flat tax is typically paid up front at the time of purchase. Will they do what they do with cars and wrap it into your loan, and when they do, how about business owners who use their home or part thereof for business purposes. It really becomes a wretched mess, even as wretched as the current IRS situation.

2. There used to be a 15% tax on what were called luxury items, of which purses, jewelry, watches, and luggage were considered luxury. In fact, they called it a luxury tax. Knowing Washington the way we do, what is to stop them from not only issuing a flat tax, but also continuing the IRS accounting method for all you expenditures?

3) Last, and it has nothing to do with tax, I am surprised they don't tell us when to eat, what to eat and how much to eat before this is over with. It certainly seems to be headed that way. We have the majority of what is spoken of in the video already - wouldn't be much of a stretch for them to carry it all the way at this point.
