The question of the "nuclear option" came up months ago when the democrats were first testing the republican waters to see how stiff the opposition was going to be. When the Republicans stood shoulder to shoulder against their health care proposals, the democrats attempted normal strong arm tactics to push the legislation even closing out the Republicans and literally shutting the doors on them.
The Scott Brown election changed the super majority numbers in the senate and has now forced the democrats to go to the "reconciliation" trick to gain the votes for the democrat health care bill.
The democrats have NEVER thought that "tricking the system" was wrong or unconstitutional . . . .
reconciliation, in fact doesn't appear in the constitution. Reconciliation is one of those self made laws congress has constructed without input from from "We the People" somewhere along the line in the "normal" way they do business. Business as usual has to become business approved by "We the People". We've got a lot of work to do.
