TIFFANY AND THE ANGEL

On the bus from Omaha to Denver,
she fell asleep against the old man’s arm.
He placed his coat upon her shoulder-
kept her safe and kept her warm.
As we crossed the moonlit prairie,
it occurred to me that night-
some of God’s most precious wonders
are but small and out of sight.

Like an angel he watched o’er her-
through the night, the girl slept on.
The old man sat in deep reflection-
singin’ softly ‘til the dawn.
When the bus pulled into Denver,
snow was falling on the ground.
His ragged coat was still upon her-
but the man could not be found.

Some of God’s most precious wonders
are but small and out of sight-
like the angels sent from heaven,
keeping watch throughout the night.
On the bus from Omaha to Denver,
she fell asleep until the dawn.
His ragged coat was still upon her-
but the old man, he was gone.
