“Oh I think he clearly broke the law.”
That’s what CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer today. Obama did not give Congress 30-days notice of his plans to transfer prisoners from Guantanamo Bay Prison. Obama’s “signing statement” that he disagrees with the law makes no difference – it is still the law. Toobin does not equivocate that Obama broke the law – “and that matters” he said.
Blitzer gave Toobin a chance to back off, telling him, “You realize you are accusing the President of the United States of breaking the law?” Toobin again said Obama “broke the law.”
