Listen for the Distant Bells
as their melody
ebbs and swells
through empty halls
and over Ivy walls
How the haunting whisper tells,
as their chiming
floats and dwells,
through the frosted winter night,
disturbing doves in hurried flight,
of Summer’s tawny ocean songs
...now Quiet bells of Seasons gone

.

Listen to the Tolling Bells,
and harmony,
as their striking knells
throughout the cold,
telling secrets never told
How their clanging soars and falls
as their pounding
taunts and calls
through the stillness of the night,
in waves, eluding touch and sight
and Springtime’s urgent chirping songs
...all drowned by Bells of Seasons gone

.

Hark! to yonder Quiet Bells,
relentlessly,
like sun parched shells,
repeating with their pounding
whispers, barely heard in sounding,
as their tolling soars and falls
to memories’ taunting calls

How their ringing splits the night
their echoed singing
dancing on the twilight
racing toward a sea of wonder
fading into distant thunder
...and Autumn’s melancholy song
fades into Bells of Seasons gone
