During his tenure as president, Barack Obama has proven himself to be a spoiled, vindictive, mean individual with an ego that allows himself to do the wrong thing consistantly and never feel as if anything is ever his fault. Nothing displays this more than the closing of all national parks. His small mindedness is an affront to even the most the most hardened sensibility.
As he had during sequester, Obama has decided to inflict as much pain as he can on as many as he can. He locked the nation's school children out of the White House tours, while he continued to throw lavish parties and take exotic and frequent vacations, while burning up taxpayer money at an incredible speed. His trip to Africa alone would pay for the White House tours for the next 29 years. (Not indexed for inflation)
Furthermore, when philanthropist, Donald Trump offered to pay the entire cost of keeping the tours open for the children, Obama turned him down flat. Why? Because he decided to punish those children when his sequester plan did not turn out the way he wanted, reminiscent of Nellie Olsen from the Little House on the Prairie. The spoiled child, determined to get their way, no matter who gets hurt.
Tipsy Tip O'Neill, the old democratic bull, presided over 12 government shutdowns during his tenure as Speaker of the House, 7 under President Reagan alone. There was no childishness, no mean spiritness, no vengeful childlike proclamations. Both sides tried to make the shutdowns as painless as possible, after all they were the servants of the people and not the other way around.
During those 12 closings and even the 1995 closing under Bill Clinton, the National Mall remained open and people had access to all the outside sights and monuments. The citizens were allowed to tour the trophy case of their country.
To fully understand the lengths to which this manchild has gone to inflict pain, one need look no further than The Claude Moore Colonial Farm in Virginia. The park is an historic reenactment site that requires no personnel and no financial support from the federal government. The theater pays all it's own bills, yet based on the fact that it sits on federal land allowed the National Park Service to send enforcement officers to chase off all of the visitors and the staff and declare the site closed.
The theater has been operating for 40 years and has never been told to close during any government shutdowns.
Anna Eberly, managing director of the farm, had some choice words over it's closing:
“You do have to wonder about the wisdom of an organization that would use staff they don’t have the money to pay to evict visitors from a park site that operates without costing them any money.”
“In previous budget dramas, the Farm has always been exempted since the NPS provides no staff or resources to operate the Farm.”
“In all the years I have worked with the National Park Service … I have never worked with a more arrogant, arbitrary and vindictive group representing the NPS.”
Eberly called the decision to close the farm, "utter crap". And she's right. Even if you were to try to make the case that the NPS made the decision, the manchild is the president of the United States and he could put an end to this nonsense in the time it takes to place a ball on a tee.
Ben Shapiro of Breitbart News, has pointed out that not all monuments have been closed off, only the popular ones like the Lincoln Memorial and the MLK Memorial. His colleague at Breitbart News, Larry Flynn, has lived in Washington for 18 years and he described the WW2 Memorial thusly:
"the WWII Memorial is simply an architectural structure in an open public space. There is no official "access" to it. There are no guards. It's a building in a park. Yet, the Obama Administration tried to block veterans from viewing the public memorial, even after hearing about the planned visit."
Flynn also pointed out and correctly so that the park police are considered essential personnel and are not affected by the shutdown.
Carolyn May of the Daily Caller , wrote an article where she pointed out that the federal government has no money tied up in the memorial. Every penny it cost to build came from private individuals, corporations, and groups with an interest in WW2. The entire 197 million was raised without any aid from the federal government.
But by far, the biggest mistake the manchild made was trying to ban WW2 veterans from making a long scheduled visit to the memorial , even after being asked to allow their entry to a memorial the government did not pay for, but for which these men and women paid for dearly even risking their lives on a daily basis for four long dreary years.
These men and women fought against the real Hitler and a dime store imitation, aka The Man Who Would Be King, wasn't about to deter them. And members of congress from both sides of the aisle, to their credit were there deconstructing the barricades and escorting the soldiers into the memorial area and protected them against arrests that the park police threatened them with.
If the goverment was really just trying to save money, they failed miserably as it was very expensive to set up the barracades and the many man hours necessary to get the job done.
If I could offer just one bit of advice to Obama, and one bit only, it would be, "Grow up."
