Is Something Sinister Going On?

At different times, I've seen Alex Jones videos posted on the site, usually from second sources. For those who aren't aware, Alex has an account on YouTube and all of his radio shows can be accessed directly, allowing programs of interest to be watched in their entirety (usually in 3 or more segments).

Below, I am posting his 5 minute preview segment of Sunday's episode for a couple reasons. The first reason, if you right click in the middle of the video while it is playing, you will be able to go to the video on YouTube where you'll be able to subscribe directly to his channel if you wish (many probably already knew this). The second reason was because of something he said near the end of this segment. He mentions millions of AT&T customers are being over-charged on their bills for data usage for minutes they haven't used and states that he has even had this happen himself. His example is being charged for data usage at 5 a.m. when he was asleep in bed and his phone turned off.

The reason this caught my attention is because I have filed numerous police reports with my local police department about receiving phone calls from local numbers, but the calls were not from the 'owners' of those numbers. Since we have Caller ID, I screen all phone calls. This seems to be the newest scam in Identity Theft as the calls are always about lowering your interest rates. More than once, I hung up on the call, then called the number back. One of the ones I called back was a business, which I knew was closed as it was after hours and I was able to verify with my cousin who worked there that they definitely were closed. When I was able to contact the owners of one of the numbers, I learned it was an elderly couple and they had been sitting at the table eating dinner, which is why they didn't answer my call a half-hour earlier, placed immediately upon hanging up on the scammer. During that half-hour, I had also called the phone company, who confirmed,yes, a call had definitely been placed, coming from that number, to my number at the precise time that my Caller ID identified the call. I told the phone company that I knew the call had not come from this number and they needed to be aware that their system had been hacked, then I proceeded to give them dates, times and numbers of other incidents when this had occurred. When I knew I was being blown off, I informed the representative that the police were already notifying the 'owners' of the affected numbers I had filed police reports about, and I would be notifying the owner of the most recent call as soon as I was able to make contact with them. Suddenly, my call was escalated up, not that it seems to have done any good.

Additionally, I reported these calls to a local news station, telling them the public needed to be aware of this scam because it was coming across looking so legitmate (my husband fell for it until I intercepted him). The local station blew it off, telling me the story about a scam regarding grandkids locked up in jail, needing grandma or grandpa to send money to bail them out, was more important. I informed the station that every grandparent I know, including ourselves, is savvy enough to recognize that for the scam it is, but this is a technological hack and people are falling for it...one that affects all ages of the population, not just one segment. They never did run the story.

Now, call me paranoid, but I have to wonder, given no results or public notifications from law enforcement, the news media, and denial by the phone company, is this really more about a trial run for something more sinister? How many times have we seen people convicted and sent to prison based on phone records?!

I have never been one who 'falls' for conspiracy theories but Mr Jones does make you wonder if some of the things he talks about might not be true.

I have also recieved calls from numbers unknown to me on my cell [not AT&T] , some have had messages about reducing credit card interest rates [one today, in fact, that sounded threatening "THIS IS THE LAST............"] and others congratulating me as the winner of a "BRAND NEW LINCOLN NAVIGATOR" which I had filled an application for at a local mall. [my daughter had a Navigator which was an absolute LEMMON so THAT never happened]. I simply blew the calls off & ignored them.

Should I recieve any more of these in the future, I will write down the numbers & try to call them back. If they. like yours were, turn out to be numbers 'hacked' from innocent customers I'll report them as well.

If enough of us "NAG" those who should be protecting us from these predators.........maybe they'll actually get off their dead behinds and do something to earn all that tax money we pay them!
