In a move that makes Al Gore happy but will cripple our economy, CHAIRMAN MAO’bama’s Environmental Protection Agency did an end-run around Congress and the Constitution by classifying and regulating carbon dioxide as a pollutant under the Clean Air Act.

CO2 is not a pollutant - it is plant food. It's what makes plants grow. It is odorless, tasteless and completely non-toxic in the levels that are found in our atmosphere.

This is the EPA's Plan B to force an unbiblical, radical environmental agenda on America because the votes aren't there in Congress to pass cap-and-trade legislation. http://www.cornwallalliance.org/Click here to learn more about Christian stewardship and the environment.

The EPA's move trashes the separation of powers in the Constitution. Unaccountable bureaucrats at this federal agency want to make U.S. energy policy and take that responsibility away from accountable elected officials.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R- Alaska) had sponsored S.J.Res. 26, a "resolution of disapproval," that will forbid the EPA from imposing its onerous bureaucratic CO2 regulations. It had 41 senators as co-sponsors and needed just 51 votes to pass.

The vote on this bill was scheduled for Thursday, June 10, 2010 in the full Senate, and failed.

The EPA's policies, unless defeated in lawsuits, will do the following:

Give the EPA regulatory authority over every vehicle in America.

Give the EPA regulatory control over millions of "stationary sources" of CO2, including power plants, factories, farms, offices and apartment buildings, hospitals, schools and churches. (Yes, churches!) The cost of applying for a permit (to emit plant food!) could run as high as $100,000.

As chairman MAO’bama promised, the cost of electricity for American families will "necessarily skyrocket",

hitting the poor the hardest. Households with annual incomes of less than $50,000 already have an energy cost burden of 19% of their income. (The average household energy cost burden is between 5% and 10%.) Two-thirds of black families and 60% of Hispanic families make less than $50,000 per year. As Dr. E. Calvin Beisner of the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation says, "Since the poor will be hurt more than others by rising energy costs, the astronomical increases that would follow...amount to a regressive tax -- hurting most of all the people who can least afford it."

Citizens who care about the truth and the poor can should take the lead on this, as the Barna Group found that people who believe the Bible is God's Word are more skeptical of manmade warming than any other demographic in America.
