14 States have now officially petitioned to secede

The last I read Oregon was also one of them, which makes 14! Now they need a qualifying number of signers to the petition. Let's get behind them - this is the start!

BASIC CONTRACT LAW: If a party to a contract violates the terms of that contract, then the offended party is not required to ask the offending party for permission to withdraw from that contract already violated. In other words, appealing to Obama, the offending party, for the unalienable/inherent right to withdraw from the union is certifiably INSANE! Pure theater. Lots of sound and fury, signifying absolutely nothing.

Do these well-meaning petitioners honestly think that Comrade Obama will thoughtfully and graciously consider their petitions? If so, they need to check in with the nearest mental institution.

From a historical standpoint, the established mechanism for secession is via the "people in convention". We the People, being the ultimate arbiters of what is and what is not constitutional or otherwise lawful, if the majority of persons in a particular State opt for secession, that's it. Permission from the federal government is not required, nor will survilely seeking permission from the offending party have any hope of success.

Insincere at best. Madness and ignorance at worst.
