Thank you! I love Les Mis and have ever since I first read the book in high school more years than I want to remember ago. The newest movie version is wonderful and when I heard that song I knew that could be a new fighting song for America!
Well I can tell you I was taken in from the first chapter. I found a paperback reprint in a used book store a while back - re-printed in 1976 and 1232 pages.
When I saw the play on Broadway in 1999 I had my 3rd daughter with me and she fought me about going and I said fine - I will go by myself. We she finally agreed to go (we were in NY on our way to a tour in Israel) and she left that theater in tears - almost sobbing.
My youngest daughter and I did what you did on Christmas Day after dinner and we went and saw the movie! It got her too!
You have to just get past it being a musical if you don't like them and move on the the historical content - it really fits for today.
Listening to the words of that song really give me strength for what I do! Glad you enjoyed it!
