Test Drive America Next Month

Chris Kilcullen, the founder of AmericasGotProduct.com, has announced an exciting new event to help promote American made goods as well as to get people back to work.

Test Drive America, is a month long event where Kilcullen is asking Americans to rethink their usual purchasing habits and strongly consider supporting businesses that support American jobs, especially in the automotive industry.

“In March of this year, we the people bought just over 1.2 million cars and trucks according to The Wall Street Journal and MotorIntelligence.com. When we deduct all models built in over 30 communities all across this country, there were more than 350,000 pure imports left. These are the Kia’s, Audi’s, Lexus, VW, Volvo and other brands with models not built in America. At a $30,000 average price, that is just over $10 billion that left this country, one buy at a time and in just 30 days.” Kilcullen said.

Last year alone, America's trade deficit was $478 billion. Also last year, America imported more than 615,000 cars from South Korea alone. Buying cars made in America instead of from foreign nations helps create jobs here at home. According to economic experts, for every $1 billion in trade deficits a nation incurs, it also loses 9,000 jobs.

For example, if in the month of March alone, all car purchases had been American made, 90,000 jobs could have been created and/or saved. With unemployment refusing to budge and the national debt reaching crisis levels, anything that can be done without government support should be considered, such as changing basic buying habits where possible.
