She was the smallest of a litter born in January 2002. She was the only one with eyes outlined in black. So dramatic. So feminine with those long dog lashes. She was my instant favorite.

When I was pregnant with Foster in 2003, she cooperatively let me use her as a practice baby, allowing me to put his tiny diapers on her.

She went with me everywhere during that time. Yes, I was that girl with 5lb Pomeranian in tow. She would sit on my fat pregnant belly, leaning her head out of the car window, her fur whipping wildly, making her look fluffier than any Pomeranian should look. It was doggy bliss for her.

Then Foster was born and Sarah and then Ana, and she was pushed further and further down the totem pole. But she remained faithful and loyal to me. I knew without a doubt that I was her favorite too.

The last couple of weeks with her as an 18 year old puppy were difficult. Her sight was failing. Her hearing was gone. She fell in the pool and almost drowned. She was having potty “accidents” in the house multiple times a day. But there were nice moments too. Like when she would nap in the cat tree by my desk while I worked. The window was always open and I’d notice the breeze blowing her fur around and I knew she was happy. Just like old times.

I love you so much, Molly. I can’t believe you’re not going to be the first thing I check on when I get home.
