Here is bombshell video of Democrat Sen. Robert Byrd saying emphatically several years ago that the "Reconciliation Process" was "never, never, never" intended to be used as a "shield" for far-reaching and controversial legislation such as the "massive" Health Care Bill President Bill Clinton tried to push through in 1994. Byrd said Clinton wanted to use "Reconciliation" to pass it, but Byrd would not allow it.

"I felt that changes as dramatic as the Clinton Health Care Package, which would affect every man, woman, and child in the United States should be subject to scrutiny. I said, Mr. President, I cannot in good conscience turn my face the other way. That's why we have a Senate - to amend, and to debate freely - and that health bill, important as it is, is so complex, so far-reaching, that the people in this country need to know what's in it, and moreover we senators need to know what's in it before we vote. . ."

Robert Byrd was right. What Obama is trying to do now is every bit as "massive" and "far-reaching" as what Clinton was trying to do. It is wrong to use "Reconciliation" to ram this controversial legislation through.
