For all those pundits lamenting that President Barack Obama may be on foreign soil if war is declared on Libya: Don’t make us laugh.

Expecting leadership and strength from Obama would be akin to expecting despot Moammar Gaddafi to fold all because the president used stronger words than usual in advising the latter to get out of town before sundown.

For Barry Soetoro aka Barack Obama is the same at home and abroad: a hedonist.

Obama leads the languid life of the hedonist and has done so ever since realizing life in public office is the fastest route to get there. When times are fraught with danger, who in their right mind would turn to meaningful help from Good Time Barry, the Hedonist?

No matter what is going on around him, a hedonist shoots hoops, plays golf and takes another vacation anytime things heat up.

In a miniature analogy, Obama the Hedonist, is something like your neighbour who always develops a sore back when there is hard work to be done.

A few hedonists down through the annals of time did complete u-turns on lives of waste to become famous saints. Do not expect this from Barry.

Those who brand him a “ditherer” are wrong. He knows exactly what he is doing and always finds the most direct path to Henry VIII extravagance. A life of ease and one that brings him closer to the rich and famous at lavish parties, the dolce vita writ big.

Things getting out of hand in the Middle East? Well he got rid of Mubarak and brought in Muslim Brotherhood democracy, didn’t he?

The difference between Saddam Hussein and Gaddafi? Trust him, it’s George Bush’s fault.

How can the lame-stream media take seriously the haughty, uncaring and downright lazy Obamas?

Obama’s planned departure to Latin America followed one day after the UN Security Council approved a no-fly zone over Libya and authorized “all necessary measures” to protect civilians from attacks by Moammar Gaddafi’s forces.

The Obamas were already on Air Force One when Gaddafi renewed his attacks after agreeing to the ceasefire.

Let him be clear: In Latin America, Obama will meet with recently elected Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, Chilean President Sebastian Pinera and El Salvadoran President Mauricio Funes. Let’s hope the media doesn’t focus too closely on the contrasting leadership styles of Obama and Pinera. Pinera stayed until the last man was out in the not so long ago Chilean mine disaster. Obama cut and run from both Japan and Libya.

Obama did, however, fill out an entire page of condolences for the Japanese Earthquake victims. The way things are going with his no-show schedule and earthquakes predicted for California, some day the Japanese may be able to return the favor.

Obama has already had to cancel his intended public speech in Rio Square? So what? He’ll just deliver his remarks at Rio’s Municipal Theatre with his trusty Teleprompter instead.

While events in Japan and Libya continue to worry his lessers, Obama is just not in the mood for interruptions.

Proof positive is that in Latin America all of his family, including his mother-in-law are in tow.

It’s Kumbaya all the way for the girls. “First Lady Michelle Obama, her mother and the Obamas’ two daughters will conduct their own brand of diplomacy on the trip, attending a series of separate events focused on young people, particularly in disadvantaged communities.” (FoxNews, March 18, 2011).

These are unabashed “global citizens”except when it comes to Japan.

The best thing about the hedonist lifestyle of the high-living Obamas is that decent people everywhere are now too busy just trying to hold on to bother looking at the plethora of pictures the mainstream media is guaranteed to send back from Latin America.

The Obamas are hedonists and no one ever looks to hedonists for anything good.
