The Government We Confront

With the ratification of our Constitution, our government was established for the purpose of doing and performing such things as nations do between each other, as a primary reason for being, and for mediating between the Sovereign States which form our Union.  This second purpose was unique to our Nation, as no other nation had sovereign entities within it, but held sovereignty as in government, and in Aristocracy.  The idea of “sovereign states”, separate individual communities within a nation, was new and an outcome of the manner of the established “colonies” when we were under the Empire.
 
It was envisioned that the federal government would handle its eighteen duties, primarily dealing with external affairs, on the revenue taken in by excise taxes on imports, as it would be small, having little to do, and have little need for any more revenue than that easily produced in said manner.

 

Since that time, we have grown to fifty States and the representation of the people has been reduced ever since, incrementally, having reached the point of 435 representatives in the House of Representatives, directly representing “The People” who are The Nation.  With the two senators per state, we have a hundred Senators, who by the constitution, represented the States, and served to separate powers, but was altered, perhaps legally, but certainly questionably, by amendment, to be popularly elected, and thus cease representing the State’s interests, and became public personalities to be popularly elected, thus turning them into representing the people, rather than their states.

 

There are 435 representatives in the house, and except for a dozen, their purpose is to continue in the house until they acquire the "gravitas" to seek higher office, and greater power. Generally, the senate is that step up, and while there are one or two here who seek to do the job entailed in the constitution, namely represent their state, every other one is staying in office, or seeking to, with the hopes they may someday have the words and gravitas to seek the oval office.

 

Most of those who don’t spend decades in office will leave office to serve in administrations as appointees, or serve as lobbyists.  Counting the president and vice president, that is 537 elected office holders whose primary goal is to remain in office and thus in power.  Of them, at any given time, you may only consider the eleven or twelve who are there to serve their constituents, and are not "taken" by the power, and perverted, as the only ones who believe in the republic.

 

To believe in it, one must be a citizen, going to office to take one's needs, and those of one's constituents to congress, to see to them, with the full intent of returning home at the end of the duty of serving, and returning to real work.  The founders did not write term limits, because they did not write in salaries, representatives were paid per diem, for the days they spent in office, and in travel to and from.  The weight of “duty” was onerous, and those who established the seats, and filled them first, expected such, and considered that onerous weight to be valuable for keeping those seated concentrating on their real and stated purpose, and a cause to reflect as to whether one was up to fulfilling that duty, or accepting a lesser duty, which all sovereign citizens had.

 

Serving in Congress was a hardship, and it took one away from home, work, and taking care of home, family, farm, work, all the personal means of life, and it was an onerous duty, but one full of the return one gets from accomplishing an honest days labor, and having the outcome that shows the weight and value of the labor.  Only those who would take on such a heavy weight considered asking their friends and neighbors to send them to serve their term, and such were men who had ideas and intents they saw as betterment for our civil society and our Nation.

 

Such a system stood four square in the way of providing for personal acquisition of power, and retained the real authority in “The People”, so the first thing the socialists did was provide a salary to those in congress, so they owed loyalty to the government before having any debt to the people.  In doing this, the path was established for growing the government, by establishing good cause for some to see the power which was possible to accumulate through time, and begins to control the government as those seeking to serve, became the minority, and has since, almost completely disappeared.

 

That dozen or so who still represent their district, and refer only to the Constitution, and the one or two in the Senate, who still believe in serving their State’s interests, referring to the constitution as it was written, are the only "republicans" in the whole of the government.

 

We have a government we have elected from the provisions of candidates offered by said government, according to their own plan, completely absent any consideration of “the republic established”, and with no consideration of the Constitution, outside of the short moments they swear an oath to be bound entirely by it, and with every positive prospect before them being in government.

 

How could we ever possibly think we could overcome the socialism, used to destroy the republican principles established, or vie against the fascist form of government now established, except if “the Majority of The People” take a good educated look at the current status, and choose out of knowledge, to return to being Sovereign, and having the freedom and liberty established precisely for “Us” by so many generations who kept true to the founding principles?
