How many of us are REALLY ready to make the sacrifices necessary to save our nation?

It's going to take more than just emailing and blogging . . . . .

Take our founding fathers for example;

Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

1. Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died.

2. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.

3. Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured.

4. Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.

They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they?

1. Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists.

2. Eleven were merchants,

3. Nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well educated.

Still they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy and eventually sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.

Thomas McKeam was forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

Thomas Nelson, Jr., lost his home to the British General Cornwallis for his headquarters. Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished.

So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently or not so silently thank these patriots. It's not much to ask for the price they paid.

It's a good day to remember the words of Thomas Jefferson from 237 years ago . . . 

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

“That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,”

“That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

It's also worth knowing that the original wording was, "Life, Liberty and Property;" but some didn't like the way that sounded, perhaps thinking it was not righteous enough (those people apparently never had their property unjustly seized by their government).  Keep a close watch on your 401(k).

I've been patiently waiting for the tide to turn and it hasn't. I'm sure like all of you REAL CONSERVATIVES my patience will wear thin enough to eventually spur me to take some form of action. (for those in the various governmental agencies monitoring us citizens, OF COURSE that means "political action"). 

 We've all been waiting for resistance to coalesce around a leader or leaders. So far I don't see anyone holding our flag and marching at the head of the millions of conservative patriots following who want this war on our constitution to stop.

 In my reading of history, many up-risings had a trigger others began gradually. Some were violent, others peaceful.

 How will We the People react when we've been pushed too far? I would have thought we had arrived there already. I can feel the boney Obama index finger poking me in the chest . . . . . pushing, antagonizing, taunting . . .

I have been feeling that way for 5 years Phil. We all see and know what these vermin are up to and many of us saw it coming and were right all along. Even the way things are too many still duck and hide from reality in their work and the so called comforts they have obtained. The ruling elite know this and are using it against us as well. I sincerely believe they have discerned that there are a fairly large number about to turn. They will relax a bit and continue their preparations a la all of the government agencies working feverishly trying to figure out how to take everything away. There are so many issues and legitimate grievances. I believe some in certain positions are being 'eliminated' as they have made known they will not go along with it.

And yes we all need to think in terms of what the future holds depending which way we go. So far it looks like we will need to sacrifice to achieve change.
