Hello once again from the Association Of Gun Ownin' SUV Drivin' Vast Right Wing Jingoistic Conspirators.
COLBERT:
I am sure that most of us saw film clips of so called comedian Steven Colbert in his lame attempt to be humorous while testifying, ( I guess that was what he was doing), before some useless Congressional Committee on Immigration. This entire dog and pony show was at the request of one of the California Congresswomen. But I wonder just how many of us read that the entire fiasco was being pushed by the United Farm Worker's Union? How much longer will the American people tolerate being held hostage by various unions? Just stop and think for a moment and remember that the elected Congressmen/women have a job to do passing legislation necessary for the operation of our government, not to be a stage for idiots like Steven Colbert or people of his ilk to perform.
First of all, calling Steven Colbert a comedian is a real stretch as it promotes the idea that perhaps Steven Colbert is funny. He is not. He is just another present day performer who substitutes snotty remarks for funny lines. I can tell Congress one thing and that is they would not recognize a true comedian if one were to suddenly drop from the ceiling and kick Nancy Pelosi right in her backside...... Hmmm, not a bad thought.
And even some of the Congressional mutts thought this appearance by Colbert was completely out of place. Of course that did not reflect the opinion of Nancy Pelosi.
And of course, Colbert's performance was meant to make conservatives look like bigots and all it really did was make Colbert and the California Congressional bunch look really stupid. Of course this is a look which befits the Liberals/Democrats/Socialists/Progressives and is one which we have come to expect from these doofs.
AMENDMENTS:
In this morning's edition of the (Sub) Standard Times there was actually an article on the editorial page by Thomas Sowell. In this article, Thomas Sowell called to the reader's attention that in the 2,000+ page Comprehensive Health Care Bill (Obamacare) there was a provision inserted which regulated persons who were in the business of gold sales. He also pointed out that this had absolutely NOTHING TO DO WITH HEALTH CARE.
But then again, why should any of us expect this present crop of elected turds to do anything which approaches doing things the right way?
I would really like to see the Senate AND the House of Representatives pass rules which would PREVENT any Senator or Congressman attach ANY Amendment or Regulation to ANY piece of legislation which does not pertain to that particular piece of legislation.
A number of years back, there was an addition passed into law which added additional controls over who was eligible to purchase a firearm. For a number of years there was a section on the FFL Form 4473, which is the form which must be filled out when purchasing a firearm from a Federally Licensed Firearms Dealer. This addition was slipped in as an Amendment to a funding bill which I believe had to do with military funding. The Amendment had NOTHING to do with military funding or the primary purpose of the bill. This Amendment made it illegal for a Federally Licensed Firearms Dealer to sell a firearm to ANYONE who had been convicted of a MISDEMEANOR crime of Domestic Violence OR any MISDEMEANOR crime which had the same elements as domestic violence. Believe me when I say that this covered a multitude of misdemeanor offenses.
For years it had not been legal to sell a firearm to a CONVICTED FELON or for a CONVICTED FELON to own or possess any firearm. But for someone who had a misdemeanor conviction for selected offenses is a load of crap. The main point is that our elected officials snuck this extra restriction on a bill which was directed at military funding.
So why should any of us be surprised to find that there are more than likely a number of restrictions contained in the Comprehensive Health Care (Obamacare) Bill. And keep in mind that Thomas Sowell pointed this out to us and NOT ANY OF OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS. I am just about as sick of many of the elected Republican mutts as I am the Democrats/Progressives/Socialists. And Thomas Sowell points out in his article that what this restriction on gold sales amounts to just another Democratic power grab.
CHOICE:
I was watching several news programs a couple of days back and the World's Most Intelligent and Articulate Human was at a "Backyard Meeting" I believe in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Was asked the question by a woman as to "Why are you a Christian?" His answer was vague at best but he indicated he was a Christian by choice. What a revelation! By Choice! Actually most people belong to most particular religions or do not believe in any religion by choice. He stuttered around about his family was not a family who went to church and that his mother was one of the most SPIRITUAL people he knew but did not raise him in the church.
OK. Let's look at that statement for a moment. I have heard people for many, many years talk about being SPIRITUAL but not religious. Or have you ever heard someone say; "Yes I am religious BUT I don't believe in ORGANIZED RELIGION". One must wonder if those people then believe in DISORGANIZED or UNORGANIZED RELIGION.
Obama went on to say that Jesus Christ spoke to him about, among other things, being his "Brother's Keeper". This morning, I heard Rush Limbaugh remind people that the statement about "Being his brother's keeper" was actually the statement made by Cain when asked by God, "Where is Abel?" To which Cain replied "I know not: AM I MY BROTHER'S KEEPER?" This of course was after Cain had killed his brother Abel.
So it seems once again that the World's Most Intelligent and Articulate Human is a bit confused regarding Biblical matters. He also rambled on about treating others as they would treat him. He also spoke about the HUMILITY WE ALL HAVE. I'm sorry but I do not necessarily think of HUMILITY when I think of Barack Hussein Obama. Oh! It also seems as if I read several times in the past that Barack Hussein Obama's mother was an atheist. So one must wonder how her SPIRITUALITY came through to little Barack. Or could it be once again that the President of the United States is lying his ass off? I am also sure that the Zulu "Witch finders" were viewed as SPIRITUAL by many of the Zulus. And I am equally as sure that Wovoka, who was the founder of the "Ghost Dance" ceremonies which were common among many of the Plains Indian tribes in the late 1800's, was viewed by many of the Indians as SPIRITUAL.

QUOTES:
This first quote needs a little additional information so that it can be completely understood. Washington, D.C. Mayor, Adrian Fenty was defeated in his bid for re-election. Mayor Fenty is black as was his opponent. As Mayor he appointed Michelle Rhee as head of the school system and Cathy Lanier as Chief of Police. Ms. Rhee fought the teacher's union and fired large numbers of ineffective teachers and Chief Lanier has done a good job of cracking down on crime. Mayor Fenty received more than 70% of the white vote and his opponent received over 80% of the black vote. There were also bitter complaints that black contractors did not get as many of the contracts as they expected. This brings us to Thomas Sowell's quote:
"In short, the Mayor appointed the best people he could find, instead of running a racial patronage system, as a black mayor of a city with black majority is apparently expected to. He also didn't spend as much time schmoozing with the folks as was expected......So what if he gave their children a better education and gave everybody a lower likelihood of being murdered?"................ THOMAS SOWELL
"Racial anger and racial resentments are the fuel that keeps this lucrative racket (race hustling) going. How surprised should anyone be that community activist groups have used Mau-Mau disruptions in banks and harassed both business and government officials in their homes?"... THOMAS SOWELL
"For more than 200 years, the political left has been coming up with reasons why criminals should not be punished as much, or at all. The latest gambit in Missouri is providing judges with the costs of incarcerating the criminals they sentence.... The most obvious question that is being ignored in these scientific-sounding calculations is: What is the cost of turning the criminal loose?"........... THOMAS SOWELL

MORE STUFF:
Every year there comes a morning like no other morning during the year. That morning was Monday, September 25, 2010. I walked out to get my morning paper. The temperature was 51 degrees Fahrenheit and there was a slight breeze blowing in from the North.
I was immediately transformed from a 73 year old, 5'11", 189 pound old dude into a 17 year old, 6'2", 205 pound running back for the Itasca Wampus Cats. Damn but that morning was special. What is a Wampus Cat, you ask? It is a term which was used back in the 1940's in East Texas to describe someone who was double tough and feared nothing. But what they were comparing someone to was an East Texas Bobcat. Not just any Bobcat but that one huge male Bobcat who was bigger, tougher, more aggressive than all of the other Bobcats in the woods. That was the Wampus Cat.
The term was used in describing anyone who was hard to handle. Itasca, Texas is the ONLY high school I have been able to find who uses a Wampus Cat as their mascot. They are a Class A Texas High School and I believe they are doing pretty well this year.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Still on the subject of football and team mascots, I can remember when all of the colleges and many of the high schools use the actual animal or person facsimile as their team mascot. The University of Texas still has Bevo who is a huge Texas Longhorn. I can remember when the Arkansas Razorbacks had a monster red razorback hog. His name was Ragnar II. The University of Houston had Shasta who was a really large Cougar. Baylor had a big fat black bear. Of course the Florida State Seminoles have a Seminole Indian, Osceola who rides out and turns toward the opposing bench and sticks a spear into the ground as a challenge. I believe it is the North Dakota Fighting Sioux have a Sioux Indian in full dress riding a horse.
But here lately, everyone seems to have wimped out on team mascots. Most of the schools have some person in a huge headed paper mache mascot with a permanent stupid grin on the face. Even the Texas Tech Red Raiders have a girl riding their horse around the field and of course they also have the obligatory stupid looking paper mache headed idiot who bounces around. Even the University of Texas along with the real Bevo have some big paper mache headed longhorn with a goofy grin on his face.
BUT, Texas A & M University still has their Fighting Texas Aggie Marching Band and REVEILLE the Texas Aggie Collie who will bite the crap out of anything on the playing field that is not in a Texas Aggie Uniform. Every summer, an Aggie student is chosen for the honor of keeping Reveille during the summer months. This year there was a young student who lives right here in San Angelo who had Reveille for the summer.

I could not speak of football without mentioning a real football great who died on September 27th. Of course I am referring to George Blanda who passed away at age 83. George Blanda was something special. He played professional football for 26 years which is a record. For a time period he held the record for total points scored.
George Blanda played college football for the University of Kentucky. He was drafted in 1949 by the Chicago Bears. The first time I saw George Blanda he was the backup quarterback for the Bears. Their starting quarterback, Eddie Brown, got hurt and George Blanda took over as their starting quarterback. He took them to at least one NFL Championship game and I believe they were beaten by the New York Giants on a field that was almost solid ice.
In 1960 George Blanda jumped leagues and went to the new AFL Houston Oilers as their starting quarterback. Blanda quarterbacked the Oilers to the AFL Championship in 1960 and in 1961. He also took them to the AFL championship game in 1962 and 1963 where they lost to the Dallas Texans (Now the Kansas City Chiefs). Back in the early 1950's the Baltimore Colts of the NFL were located in Dallas and were called the Dallas Texans.
I can remember attending one game in 1961 at the old Jeppesen Stadium in Houston. I cannot remember the seating capacity but it was somewhere around 20,000 or maybe a few more. This was the home stadium of the Houston Oilers. Anyway, as I pulled into the parking lot a virtual hurricane force storm blew into Houston. It was not a hurricane but it was raining as hard as I had ever seen and the wind was blowing over 50 MPH. Fortunately I had in my car my genuine Houston PD yellow rain suit and an additional rain poncho so I sat in the driving rain until the last dog was hung. It dawned upon me after the game that I must have been overcome by an attack of lunacy to sit in that weather for anything. But I was 24 years old and loved football.
Anyway, George Blanda was a special football player and he was always a gentleman in public. I knew a number of the Oiler players and they assured me that he was not a gentleman in the huddle. But keep in mind, this was in the era of Bobby Layne, Norm Van Brocklin , and some more really tough old dudes. George Blanda is in the National Football League Hall of Fame and justifiably so.

One more quick football note. One of our local area Class 2A High Schools is the Grape Creek Eagles. A young mane named Eli Untermeyer is a running back for the Grape Creek Eagles. On Friday, September 24th Grape Creek beat Alpine 46-17 in their District opener. Eli Untermeyer scored 6 touchdowns and rushed for 505 yards. This is a huge amount of rushing yards for those of you who reside in the People's Republic of San Francisco. This actually put Eli in 6th place for single game rushing. A truly awesome performance.
6th place, you ask? What is the state record? OK. Here they are:
1. Darryl Ellis, Somerville vs. Thrall, 1998................................ 587 yds.
2. Tyson Thompson, Irving vs. Hurst Bell, 1998....................... 525 yds.
3. Kenneth Hall, Sugar Land vs. Houston Lutheran, 1953......... 520 yds.
4. Cleon Williams, Boling vs. Ganado, 1991 ............................ 517 yds.
5. Phillip Graves, Hutto vs. Thorndale, 2001 ........................... 517 yds.
6. Eli Untermeyer, Grape Creek vs. Alpine, 2010 ..................... 505 yds.
7. Devin Thomas, SA Madison vs. SA Reagan, 2006................. 483 yds.
8. Larry Boyd, Union Hill vs. Lone Oak, 1988 ........................... 481 yds.
9. Ronnie Ashmore, SA Edgewood vs. SA Memorial, 1985 ....... 476 yds.
10. Eric Bizer, Centerville vs. Groveton, 2003 ........................... 467 yds.
Incidentally, Groveton, Texas is where I killed my first deer in 1950. 12 point buck with a 12 gauge shotgun, 00 buck.

After watching many news programs this past week made me even more sure that not only do the vast majority of the Democrat/Progressive/Socialist elected mutts need to be replaced, but there are a good many "Moderate" Republicans and many RINO's who need the run put on them. So taking control of both Houses of Congress is but the first step. We must never allow these people to run unchecked as they have been for a number of years. And for those of you who are not huge fans of some of the Republican candidates just remember what the alternative choice is.
It is our chance to take control again and hold their feet to the flame.
