Debt Ceiling Insanity

Nothing REALLY changes, does it.

Treasury is already calling upon Congress to raise the crushing debt ceiling yet again to meet debt payment obligations. Rubbish.

How about our government taking the breathtakingly politically courageous step of drastically CUTTING FEDERAL EXPENDITURES in order to service the current debt and to preclude having to suicidally raise the debt ceiling again.

The U.S. Treasury Secretary on Thursday encouraged Congress in a letter to raise the federal debt ceiling, which has been suspended since 2015, as soon as possible to prevent a U.S. default.

Comment by PHILIP SCHNEIDER on March 13, 2017 at 10:33am: The debt ceiling issue is going to continue for a while. Our congress has outspent our GDP for so many years, that even President Trump might not be able to stop raising it during his first term.

20 (T)rillion dollars is a lot of money.

I'm hoping for spending cuts near $500 (B)illion during his first term. I'm also hoping he can generate $500 (B)illion in GDP during his first term.

The differentials added together could possibly reduce the deficit by a (T)rillion dollars per year. Even at that DREAM rate, it would take twenty years!

I just sent myself into a deep depression.
