Can the Union Survive?

For me, the failure of the so-called “super committee” sharply illustrates the
overwhelming and disturbing reality that this country is, indeed, 
irreconcilably divided.

Many years in the making, this increasingly irreparable ideological  divide
separates  socialism and capitalism, statism and individual liberty.

And no matter how hard we try, like oil and water these competing ideologies can
never, ever  mix.

Deeply ideologically divided, the unsettling reality is now patently obvious: we
are now and have been for some time a nation headed for political dissolution.
The November 2012 elections may delay that disintegration, but only temporarily.
Like our Constitution, our union too is on life support.

Gone are the simpler, more wholesome times in the past when Americans shared
first principles, divided only by relatively innocuous political gamesmanship
rather than fiercely ideologically conflicting convictions.

In the face of these severely divergent political viewpoints, sustaining an
“indivisible union” may, in the longer term, be but a pipe dream.

Well, it was a great ride while it lasted.

A ship without an anchor , is  at the mercy of the sea.   America is like a ship without an anchor or a rudder.  We have  as a nation , failed to preserve our religeous heritage.    We have ignored the drifting to the left , until now we are in a deep and troubling  tide.   Our wandering from God's anchor is what got us in this mess, and only GOD  can restore us.  Whether we survive or not  depends on the prayers of  God's people.    Talking to unbelievers , is like talking to the wall.

I feel sorry for most kids who are deliberately denied a proper education. American history and constitution studies are a rarity even in  the best of schools. Progressive brainwashing has been the order of the day for a very long time now. I fear that nearly an entire generation has been lost, and with it its grounding in constitutional values. And as our framers warned, without a properly educated electorate, there is absolutely no way the Republic can be saved. For us patriots, we are swimming against a tidal wave of ignornance. Perhaps November 2012 will bring the changes we need to restore reverence for and understanding of our history and our Constitution.

The problem is that whoever has the minds of the young has the future. I do not meet many young people who understand or are committed to the American ideal built by the framers of the Constitution. I am pessimistic abot the future.

Hey, Philip

It's not depression, just the acute discomfort which occasions one's exposure to painfully raw reality. Like you and other patriots, I have no appetite for throwing in the towel. But, despite our best efforts, if we fail to return ALL the union to constitutional order, I have no intention of meekly yielding to a union of scoundrels, robots and slaves. Let's give it our best, but let's keep our iinalienable options alive as well.

I share your depression Jim but I refuse to give in or give up.

We the People are going to win this thing come hell or high water.

People like you and I have now identified our nation's deep problems.

We recognize that there ARE limits to our government's taxing and spending.

Without a limit our nation will perish. The liberal progressives recognize no limits.

It is THEY who we have to fight, it is THEY who we have to defeat, it is US who have

become the soldiers in an army who can't be defeated. Saving our constitution and returning

to the Christian morality of our founding fathers will guarantee success. God Bless America.
