Warren Buffett trashes ObamaCare

With recent polling showing ObamaCare more unpopular than ever, Barack Obama cannot even count on faithful allies for support. In a recent interview, renowned investor and leftist icon Warren Buffett detailed his dissatisfaction with the behemoth law.

He was surprisingly candid in his remarks, saying the plan for socialized medicine is akin to "a tapeworm eating ... at our economic body." Buffett's main objection to the law is its obvious disregard for cost-effectiveness. Despite its official name, he said the Affordable Care Act is anything but.

Insisting "we need something else," Buffett said American already face high health care costs, and "if you take this line and you project what has been happening into the future, we will get less and less competitive."

Obama's rhetoric revolves around providing coverage for the uninsured, even though many of those individuals choose to forego medical coverage; and a complete overhaul of our healthcare system is not necessary to provide assistance to the rest. Buffett said that focus is misguided and urged legislators to instead work to make insurance less expensive.

"Attack the cost first," he said, "and then worry about expanding coverage."

Proving to be a better judge of American sentiment than ObamaCare's proponents, he aptly concluded "the American public is not behind this bill."

While there is no shortage of areas between which Buffett and the typical conservative might disagree, he did not achieve his stature by investing in foolhardy, wasteful ventures.

The fact he could put aside partisanship to address the devastating cost associated with ObamaCare should be a wake-up call to those who still maintain a blind allegiance to the law. The chance of such ideologues actually hearing something other than their own preconceived notions, however, is incredibly slim.

When he is advocating a tax spike in the midst of a relentless recession, Buffett is heralded as a clairvoyant by the liberal elite. When the same man advocates dismantling ObamaCare -- the modern progressive's Holy Grail -- the media silence is deafening.
