A Thought For Sunday 9/04/2011

" "There is no honorable way to do a dishonorable thing." This single line has bothered me for over 40+ years in dealing with polititians, business people or anyone else for that matter, and it hasn't become any better with age. As it is with all of us, when we reach the point in our lives that we can make our own decisions as to where we live, what we wear, where to work, and what to buy, all we ask is to be given a "fair shake", as it were, and be told the truth. This is not a request that should be too hard for anyone of character to fill, but as I look back over the many years of my life, I find it one of the most precious "gifts" one person has to give to another, the Honest Truth. When something in our lives becomes "precious", it usually means that whatever it is is very rare, in short supply, and something not to be wasted or carelessly thrown away and protected from harm. Such is the value of TRUTH, for without it our lives have little meaning, our relationships with each other are meaningless and our very existance produces little for noone can place trust in their neighbor! This is the world I see being built and my heart cries as I see the progress being made!

What should bother every person in this wonderful land we are blessed to live in are two salient points upon which we all base our present and future choices: 1) People DO lie to each other; for more reasons than I can begin to list, never the less, it is a fact of life we all live with every day of our lives and no matter who it comes from or what the lie involves, it killsa relationship in FACT and in FORM FOREVER! What is the mot bothersome part of a "LIE" is the personal "Revelation" that the person or persons telling the "LIE" seem to feel that whoever they tell this "LIE" to does not deserve the TRUTH! Let me repeat thei "They DO NOT feel YOU DESERVE THE TRUTH"! 2) The "LIE Tellers" ask for our business, our support, our trust, our loyalty and yes, our precious VOTE at every election time and they manage this with a straight face!!! Yet these "LIE tellers" are truly amazed by our reactions.

I believe that Sir Walter Scott [1564-1616] summed it up correctly when he said "Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve."

As we all begin to prepare for church on this, the Lord's Holy Day, I ask each of you to take a  few moments of your time, and ask Him to reach out His mighty hands and touch His children, especially the leaders of our nation, to heal their cluttered minds & hardened hearts so they may return this country to the "narrow path" He has taught us of. This is our duty, as Christians, as Americans and His children to beg His forgiveness and His Blessings not only for each other but for our leaders as well. This I beg in His Son, Jesus Christ's Name.

When I was growing up, I was blessed with a most wonderful woman who gave me many words of wisdom to guide me along life's pathway. My "Nonny K" [my Mother's Mother] was my "Angel" at a time when I needed one. One of the "lines" she taught me was "Always remember, to yourself be true." If we are TRULY honest with ourselves, we will be absolutely honest with others as well. I think that is the reason this piece touched my heart and the reason i wanted to share it with all of you..................................God Bless,
