UPDATED MEMORANDUM: BLOGGING USING "RICH TEXT" OR "HTML"

NEW BLOGGING/POSTING PROTOCOLS

Apparently, the Ning network has changed methodology for posting blogs.

There are two choices:

"Rich Text"- If you wish to post images, photos, etc., use this format

"HTML" - If you wish to attach videos to your blog

(note- you can always post videos in the "video" section and add editorial notes to the video, if all you need to post is the video(s)....)

You can also copy and paste " HTTP links" to either format.

....LEARN!, then share what you’ve learned here, (it’s a bit of a struggle).

TIP: NING recommends that you do everything in "HTML" mode first, then switch to "RICH TEXT" to edit your post. There, you can add images. Try that.

NOTE- You may have to save images to your PC first, then upload into your blog from the "RICH TEXT" mode using the 'insert image' icon on the toolbar for the "RICH TEXT" screen. ( It's the 13th tool to the right, just after the bullet tool.) Roll your mouse over the icon, it will say "insert image". Click on the icon then hit 'browse' button-find it in 'desktop'. Tip: Name the image when you save it to your PC, then, when you're browsing for the image, type the first letter of the name to find it quicker.

NOTE- IN THE UPPER LEFT TOOLBAR IN 'EDIT' MODE YOU CAN ALSO CHANGE FONT SIZE AND MAKE IT BOLD, LIKE THIS.

These issues may be resolved in the near future, but in the meantime feel free to follow the above guidelines.

For maximum dissemination of your blogs with a minimum of aggravation, you can:

Write your blog in Microsoft Word, or whatever you use- then copy and paste to email, adding the hyperlinks. (Don't write your blogs online- because if you lose your connection, you lose your work.)

Then copy the email and paste it to RICH TEXT format in Real Conservatives.

Now! If you want to copy that blog to a comment, in a group for example, copy the HTML version and paste that where you wish. Also paste the HTML version when transferring your blog to other Ning sites like 9-12 or Tea Party Nation. Just make sure you paste HTML to HTML.

You can, of course, copy and paste right from Word to HTML on RC- and then switch to Rich Text to add your links, but if you email your blogs, email should be the first step to save time.

I don't think the Ning network has their head on straight. Some things are just not worth the trouble if they don't work well.

Can somebody just give us the bottom line here? I don't have time to read all that junk at those two links. What are you trying to tell us? Should we not use rich text? Should we not use HTML format? Lets see if we can just get simple instructions here. That is probably why nobody is getting it.
