University backs professor for telling students to "stomp on Jesus"

If you were outraged at NBC showing Jesus as a murderous terrorist, this will also get your blood boiling.  According to Todd Starnes of Fox News, a Florida Atlantic University student was suspended from school for refusing a professor's order to stomp on the name Jesus.

If I didn't read this article I would not have believed it myself, but unfortunately this appears to be 100% true.  Ryan Rotela, the student who was suspended, says that he was asked in his Intercultural Communications class by Professor Deandre Poole to write the name Jesus on a piece of paper and then stomp on the name.

“I said to the professor, ‘With all due respect to your authority as a professor, I do not believe what you told us to do was appropriate,’” Rotela said. ‘I believe it was unprofessional and I was deeply offended by what you told me to do.'"

Believe it or not the story continues to spiral downward.  When the student expressed his concerns to the professor's supervisor he was the suspended from school.  You read that correctly, he was suspended from school for refusing to stomp on Jesus!

Now at this point you would think the school would relent and allow the student back in class, because this is a clear violation of the students Freedom of Religion, but you would be wrong.  Instead, according to Starnes, the school is defending the instructor's assignment.

“As with any academic lesson, the exercise was meant to encourage students to view issues from many perspectives, in direct relation with the course objectives,” said Noemi Marin, the university’s director of the school of communication and multimedia studies.

You probably already read the story about Dr. Deandre Poole demanding that students step on a piece of paper with the word “Jesus” on it and a Mormon student being suspended for refusing to do it.

You may already know that Dr. Deandre Poole built his academic credentials on a doctoral dissertation entitled: The Historic Presidential Campaign of 2008: A Content Analysis of Selected News Magazines Portrayal of Senator Barack Obama as a Mythical Hero in His Bid for the Presidency of the United States and that he’s turning that into a book titled Obamamania: The Rise of a Mythical Hero.

But what you may not know is that aside from his teaching gig, Dr. Deandre Poole  is the Vice Chair of the Palm Beach County Democ....

Currently, Dr. Poole serves as a precinct captain for Precinct 7021 in West Palm Beach, as a club officer for the Together We Stand Democratic Club, and a member of the West Palm Beach Democratic Club. His political activities involve community empowerment, and working with community leaders and elected officials to insure the needs of all people.

In April 2011, Dr. Poole was appointed to the position of Recording Secretary for the Palm Beach County Democratic Executive Committee.

Dr. Deandre Poole has represented the PBCDP at public events before. So the question is will the Palm Beach County Democratic Party continue to allow a bigot to serve as its public face?

And if Dr. Deandre Poole, FAU, Howard, had asked students to step on a piece of paper with the word “Mohammed” on it, how long would it take before every single educational and political institution he was ever affiliated with apologized for his existence and threw him out?

And isn’t that de facto theocracy?

A Florida college professor causing national outrage for requiring students to write “Jesus” on a piece of paper, then put it on the floor and stomp on it, turns out also to be a top official in the local Democratic Party – the latest in a string of acute leadership embarrassments.

Although one student who refused to participate claims he was punished by being suspended from the class, Florida Atlantic University is defending the controversial assignment.

The dissenting student, Ryan Rotela, told the local CBS TV affiliate WPEC that his instructor, associate professor Deandre Poole, told everyone in the class to write the word “Jesus” on a piece of paper in bold letters, then put it on the floor and stomp on it.

Rotela, a junior from Coral Springs, said some of his classmates complied, but he refused.

“Anytime you stomp on something it shows that you believe that something has no value. So if you were to stomp on the word Jesus, it says that the word has no value,” he told WPEC.

A religious Mormon who attends church every Sunday, Rotela complained to school officials but said they responded by suspending him from the class.

According to Florida Atlantic University, Poole was conducting an exercise from the textbook “Intercultural Communication: A Contextual Approach, 5th Edition.”

A synopsis of the lesson plan in question, obtained by Fox News, goes like this:

“Have the students write the name JESUS in big letters on a piece of paper Ask the students to stand up and put the paper on the floor in front of them with the name facing up. Ask the students to think about it for a moment. After a brief period of silence instruct them to step on the paper. Most will hesitate. Ask why they can’t step on the paper. Discuss the importance of symbols in culture.”

University Apologizes for “Stomping on Jesus” Assignment

Florida Atlantic University has issued an apology for a classroom assignment that involving students writing the name “Jesus” on a sheet of paper and then stomping on the paper. The university also said the lesson will never again be used.

“We sincerely apologize for any offense this has caused,” the university said in a statement to Fox News. “Florida Atlantic University respects all religions and welcomes people of all faiths, backgrounds and beliefs.”
The university initially defended the Christ-bashing lesson which is included textbook titled, “Intercultural Communication: A Contextual Approach, 5^th Edition.”

Fox News obtained a synopsis of the lesson taught by Deandre Poole, who also happens to be vice chair of the Palm Beach County Democratic Party.

Public school performs 'gay' play mocking Bible, laughing at bestiality

A public charter school in Massachusetts turned a deaf ear to protests last week and followed through with performing a pro-homosexual play that mocks the Bible and has been blasted as “blasphemous.”

Students from the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School, or PVPA – which serves 400 pupils, grades 7-12, in South Hadley, Mass. – on March 15-17 performed the controversial play, “The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told.”

A 1998 Paul Rudnick comedy that had a run in theaters in New York City, “The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told” alters the biblical Book of Genesis to include homosexual couples Adam and Steve and Jane and Mabel in the Garden; as well as a “horny” rhinoceros that tries to seduce men on the Ark; and Mary, the mother of Christ, arguing she can’t be pregnant, because she’s a lesbian “bull-dyke.”

A New England theater guide, The Theater Mirror, in a glowing review, further explains the play “gets so specific as to be a gay how-to sexbook” and summarizes it as “a goofy gay romp with a serious sting in its tale.”

News of the play’s pending performance prompted protests from several sectors, including students, parents and even the president of the school’s board of trustees, who said he seconded a student opinion that the play is disrespectful to Christianity.

The bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield, Mass., however, was even more blunt.

According to The Springfield Republican, the Most Rev. Timothy A. McDonnell responded through a spokesman: “I didn’t know it was the responsibility of charter schools to teach religious bigotry.”

Within the community, crowds of protesters showed up at the performances, including Noreen Beebe of Northampton, Mass., who told the Republican she was “insulted” that taxpayer money is being used mock Scripture.

“It breaks my heart to see a public school doing a parody of the Bible,” Beebe said.

Pam Rys of Ludlow told the newspaper said she considers the play “hate speech in the form of art.”

The play’s director, however, argued, “It’s not a play that bashes religion, but it does make fun of some religious attitudes.”

During a rehearsal leading up to the performance, he clarified, “Although it’s full of jokes – some of them at the expense of religious fundamentalism – the play, is, at its heart, a thoughtful investigation of the meaning of faith and family.”

William Newman, director of the Western Massachusetts office of the American Civil Liberties Union, also defended the play, stating, “The highest function of art is to make people think and talk and consider and be challenged. This play seems to fill the aspirations and goals of art.”

According to WWLP-TV, in Springfield, Mass., PVPA Head of School Scott Goldman said he had been bombarded with emails and phone calls alleging the play was “blasphemous and hateful,” but that the show would go on.

“While we have no control over whether organizations from other states decide to protest the show, it is clear to me that many of the most recent emails are attempts to coerce PVPA into cancelling the play,” Goldman told the station. “Allowing this to happen would very much go against the grain of our unique, artistic and intellectually rigorous PVPA community, and the larger Pioneer Valley community.”

Goldman conceded that while the play may not be appropriate for younger audiences, he believes it suitable for high-school aged students.

Indeed, the play did go on, even over a the objections of a crowd of roughly 50 protesters who reportedly gathered on opening night.

According to minutes of a school-trustee meeting held earlier this month, the board intends to discuss in the future the process of how plays are selected to be performed by the students.

It’s not just schools that are bringing homosexuality into biblical stories. Some churches themselves are.

As WND reported, a Christian church in America’s heartland redefined the birth of Jesus story, as its living Nativity scene in December 2010 featured two women instead of a man and a women starring as Joseph and Mary.

“It’s not very groundbreaking at all to use the youngest baby in the congregation to play the role of Jesus. The parents just happened to be two women,” said Rev. Linda Butler, pastor of St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa. “They were playing the role of the Holy Family, not necessarily Mary and Joseph. We never referred to the moms as Mary and Joseph. We referred to them as the Holy Family.”

PUBLIC SCHOOL PLAY MOCKS BIBLE

As the U.S. Supreme Court psyches itself to redefine the age-old and divinely-ordained institution of marriage, public school authorities and students in South Hadley, Massachusetts, put on a little play called “The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told.”

The weekend performance by the public school is a mockery of the Holy Bible from a sodomite/lesbian point of view. It’s supposed to be funny. Ha, ha: Adam and Steve in the Garden of Eden, plus a lesbian pair, and so forth. Makes you want to break out in guffaws, doesn’t it? There’s even a scene in which Adam has sex with an animal, aboard the Ark. Don’t take my word for it; see a rave review.

Despite receiving thousands of protests from all over the country, and the efforts of live protesters outside the theater, the public school went ahead and did it anyway.

The flagrant blasphemy is obvious. More needs to be said about the hypocrisy of so-called educators.

Head of School Scott Goldman, a pinhead with intellectual pretensions, told the news media that putting on a play that mocks the Bible is “consistent with our philosophy”—I’m sure it is—and that not to stage it “would go against the grain of our unique, artistic, and intellectually rigorous PVPA community.” PVPA stands for Pioneer Valley Performing Arts, described in the school’s own website as “A Public School Dedicated to Academic and Artistic Excellence.” In other words, it costs more than the regular public schools.

“Intellectually rigorous,” eh? Like it takes all this brain-power to mock the Bible? Any smarmy little twit in the 8th grade can do that. But Scott’s only getting warmed up. He went on to ponder, in a rhetorical question so asinine as to call into question his possession of a brain, “Is it the role of public school to facilitate an exchange of ideas on the themes explored in this particular play?”

Is he kidding? An “exchange of ideas” on the rightness of sodomy—in a public school in Massachusetts? I suppose such an exchange might go something like this. “I think gay marriage is a wonderful thing!” “Do you really? Why, so do I!” Any deviation from that line of thought will meet with swift and certain retribution. What do you imagine Scott the Head would do if one of his students said, “I think the whole thing’s an abomination”?

Last week at CPAC, author Eric Metaxas warned his audience: “Marriage, if redefined, will utterly cripple religious freedom in America.”

Think he’s whistling Dixie? Hear this from Chai Feldblum, a former Georgetown law professor who...: “There can be a conflict between religious liberty and sexual liberty, but in almost all cases the sexual liberty should win because that’s the only way that the dignity of gay people can be affirmed in any realistic manner.”

So, yeah, we can sit around exchanging ideas, all right—as long as Big Sodomy’s ideas always win. Christianity and “gay rights” cannot coexist.

Try to imagine any public school—a venue from which religious speech is rigorously excluded—putting on a play which mocks homosexuals, ridicules their folkways, and rejects their agenda. Do you think Scott the Head would be open to that kind of exchange of ideas?

We have already lost some large chunks of our religious freedom, here at home in what we were thinking was our own country. There are things we cannot say, positions we are not allowed to hold—even if we’re only trying to be faithful to God’s word. After the Roberts Obamacare Supreme Court redefines marriage to embrace any depraved combination of individuals, what will happen to those of us who dissent from that edict? For how long will such dissent be tolerated? If the court rules that two and two make five, must we agree it’s so?

We must resist. We must pull our children out of public school before statists, to curry favor with homosexuals, make it illegal. We must cast out of our churches all clergy, all elders, all laity who allow trendiness to trump the word of God. We must continue to proclaim God’s word. We shall resist.

As our republic degenerates into a predatory beast, as a debauched nation holds to “sexual liberty” as the highest good, we must stand up for truth. When the crash comes, we had better be found on the Lord’s side.

There, Mr. Head, is an exchange of ideas for you.
