Ladies and Gentlemen, beware of what you tweet, post or text because Big Brother is watching!
If you don’t believe it, ask Leigh Van Bryan and Emily Bunting in the United Kingdom who had planned a dream vacation to the United States. Shortly before boarding a plane for America, Leigh tweeted friend,
“Free this week, for quick gossip/prep before I go and destroy America.”
Another tweet read,
“3 weeks today, we’re totally in LA p***** people off on Hollywood Blvd and diggin’ Marilyn Monroe up!”
Someone alerted authorities who in turn notified Homeland Security who was waiting for the British couple upon their arrival at Los Angeles International Airport. The couple were detained and questioned by authorities.
Leigh said that when they asked him why he wanted to destroy America, he tried to explain to the very serious authorities that ‘destroy’ meant to party or get trashed – i.e. drunk.
They asked Emily if she was going to be Leigh’s lookout when he planned on digging up Marilyn Monroe’s body. She said she almost burst out in laughter at the question.
The couple spent the next couple of hours trying to explain that the second tweet is a quote from the television show Family Guy and it had nothing to do with anything like what the authorities were claiming.
However America’s intelligence agents were too stupid to even check out the British expression or the quote and the couple was eventually hauled to downtown Los Angeles and jailed in the common lockup area. Prior to this, neither of them had a criminal record or did anything to warrant police attention.
Twelve hours after being detained by the authorities, Leigh and Emily found themselves on a plane back to the United Kingdom where they now have a black mark next to their names that could prevent them from every visiting the US or taking their dream vacation.
For the most part I’ve been very supportive of the men and women who serve to protect the American people from terrorist attacks, but when they do stupid amateurish things like this, I can’t help but question their ability to discern the difference between a terrorist and a tourist.
Add to that what the TSA agents are allowed to do at airports, I'd say we need a top down investigation and re-evaluation of our prized constitutionalized rights of speech, privacy, and political freedom.
Isn't it ironic how the liberal progressive democrats scream "constitutional rights" when Conservative Republicans are in power but when the opposite is happening they step all over our rights as citizens and absolutely destroy the constitution.
