A Message From the Chairman of America's Party of Florida

As Chairman of America's Party of Florida, I have been dealing with new state requirements for political parties.  One new rule states that the Division of Elections may cancel our "registration and approved status as a party, when . . .

The party’s aggregate reported financial activity during the calendar year is $500 or less."  
As you may realize we asked for no money during the last calendar year.  It has been our policy not to ask for donations: http://www.selfgovernment.us/no-donations.html.  

I  objected to our party's cancellation when I received a letter stating that the Division of Elections stated that it intended to cancel our party's registration for just the reason stated above, "The political party’s aggregate reported financial activity during the 2011 calendar year was less than $500."  I received the letter days after the state had allowed me to submit a properly notarized letter for our annual audit stating that the party (by its executive committee) had received no contributions nor made any expenditures for 2011.

However, I spoke to an Assistant General Counsel in the Department of State, and the State will let us off for now since that rule became effective only in September of last year.  I still argue against it, for much political activity can be done without money, by communicating through emails, telephone calls, conference calls, social network sites, blogs, talking in person with neighbors, family, and friends; and people can gather petitions that they print for themselves off the Internet.  I  addition, we have seen much abuse in recent years of money collected for political purposes: John Edwards paying for a mistress, Republican leaders partying at a lesbian striptease, a million dollars sent to Republican Dede Scozzafava in a special congressional election in New York, who, when it looked like the Conservative candidate would win, withdrew and endorsed the Democrat days before election day, helping the Democrat achieve victory.  

The executive committee of America's Party recently elected Ryan Sharp of Ft. Myers and Lee County as Vice Chair (to replace Carl Bibeau who resigned); notification was sent to the state May 9, 2012.   
To get America's Party's nominated candidates for President, Tom Hoefling (http://www.tomhoefling.com/) and Vice President (J. D. Ellis) on the ballot in Florida, we need at least 29 electors.  In accordance with the Constitution of the Unites States (Article II, Section 1):
    Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

These electors must be willing to go to Tallahassee in December and cast their vote in the Electoral College for Tom Hoefling for President (and J.D. Ellis for Vice President) if the ticket wins a plurality of votes cast in Florida general election of 2012.  The Constitution further states (Amendment 12):
    The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President, and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and of all persons voted for as Vice-President and of the number of votes for each, which lists they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. . . .

 By the State of Florida's requirements these electors for America's Party candidates for President and Vice President need to be registered voters registered (with party affiliation) with America's Party of Florida (the three letter abbreviation on voter registration cards is AIP).  Our state party's requirements are that the registered voters be in good standing with America's Party, having signed and being in agreement with the Personal Affiliation Agreement with America's Party (http://www.selfgovernment.us/affiliate.html) and America's Party Leadership Pledge (http://www.selfgovernment.us/be-a-leader.html).  

I urge all who can in good conscience sign the agreement and pledge to do so.

Both Mr. Obama and the presumptive Presidential nominee of the Republican Party, Mitt Romney, by their words and actions have done much damage to marriage, the protection of innocent human life, and constitutional and republican principles.  If we wish to restore and preserve our liberty and our republic, we must fight for it, by praying to our Creator and God, and otherwise communicating with our family, friends and neighbors, as mentioned above.

It is so wrong that the State of Florida is now trying to force the corruption of money on all political parties!  Our political system has been over taken by corruption fueled by big money.  These dedicated citizens of Florida should not be penalized for trying to remove that corrupting influence.
